it'll go away in a year when everyone has full keyboards on their cells and 1337 speak becomes synonymous with geeks who sit on the computer all day being internet tough. The next generation won't even know that existed, it was a fluke of the late 90's. On my blackberry I've gotten into the habit of spelling out full words correctly and punctuating, like even apostrophes and stuff. The only time I don't is when I'm driving one handed and trying to text.

Why is it called black friday?
raytard replied to Chode69's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
i did it a few years back, it sucked, never ever doing it again i just go in on sat and hold up the flyer and waive cash and tell em to honor it. i legit saw a guy buy 13 lcd tv's...that were 20percent off, and all i could think was "damn, someone should tell him about the internet...those things are like 40percent off all the damn time" -
and while youre at it, run some 0g and get a real 1000 watt amp and not a 600watt max piece of junk...garbage in, garbage out

more power, more cone area, those are the easy ways the whole box thing is more technical, ported is better than sealed, bandpasses have the potential to be louder, but are harder to do and less musical so just stick with ported. big port, smaller box for more power (more power=louder), tune high, maybe 5-10hz below tuning, you gotta play around with it thats spl 101

you just linked to another thread where you asked the same question and it was answered....

tbh, sub up port to the passenger side and box pushed all the way to the driver was one of the loudest to the ear installs i heard using like prefab stuff. Side port could definately do some work in those little cabins.

Going to Fiberglass for the first time
raytard replied to OBI's topic in Fabrication, Fiberglass, Etc
if it gets screwed up, just gotta bite the bullet and get some new ones from the junkyard....if you look around on here enough you'll figure out how its done, and the rest is just practice. practice requires actually doing it so....time to go do it -

entire door panels, count on about 2 gallons chopped mat is the way to go, dont worry about weight and what not too much because you can always add an extra layer and the kitty hair stuff is for filling imperfections and stuff, it is optional, but may be necessary, especially for your first build (you cant fill a big gap or hole or dip with bondo, cuz it has a tendancy to crack or break out, kitty hair works flawlessly though) -
i'm trying to get mine done sometime soon, my eyes are horrible. like i have a routine for where my glasses go when i sleep so i can find them in the morning horrible... my mom had it done a few years back and said it was the best thing she ever did, and now shes over 50 and still has 20/20 vision. just make sure you follow their directions and you'll be back to normal in no time.

What gauge to use?
raytard replied to Benzino's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
250a fuses are called ANL style, its the square one with prongs on either side and while you can remove the 4g and re run 0 and get a 2 distro blocks and butcher your nice long 4g run to hook up those amps, just doing another 4g run is cheaper and easier by a long shot. if you decide to ditch those amps and upgrade, you're going to be running a rear batt and such anyway. -

use good 4 guage, and give each one its own power/ground. if you already have a 4g run, its going to be cheaper and easier to just double it up. good 4 guage can have a 100 amp fuse, since the amp has 90a, it should be more than enough but once theres two of those, your electrical is going to take a beating, and it will be time to start thinking about alts and batts -
get a 12w7 duh why the hell would you ask? just look on crutchfield, that bitch has 5 stars.

dmm brand
raytard replied to StreetSlappah's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
ive been using a craftsman one for a while, and it works pretty damn good and is built pretty well (nice rubber protective boot too) also, i used a radioshack one for a while. its def not as accurate or reliable, but for like 12 bux it held me over fine for basic stuff -
http://www.thebeatlesneverbrokeup.com/ i was bored and stumbled on that and downloaded the album. It certainly sounds like (a reasonably more modern) them, and its pretty good. Really well mastered and clean to boot (which destroys the cassette story of the website but whatever.) The theory is that its a DJ made mashup from solo/cover/unreleased stuff, like the biggie/frank sinatra "blue eyes meets bed-stuy" album which is pretty sick too. there is a download, but AFAIK its not copyrighted because it claims to be an unreleased album recorded in a parallel dimension. What do you guys think?

bags or 2 18" fi btls
raytard replied to fi audio's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
1. honey 2. tint 3. alarm 4. h/u 5. stereo 6 rims get your priorities right, lol i say bag it. bass isnt cool anymore. all the honeys either say "i've heard louder" or "thats too loud"...you never win with that. bag it to the floor and throw some new shoes on it -
i love the sound of boston sr's, loud and clear, so what more could you want? pioneer d-series are a bit cheaper, a bit less crisp on the high end, but have a much lower x-over point and a smoother sound jbl powers are one of the few 2ohm speakers, so that amp will be putting out all it ever will, and the jbls will love every last watt. theyre loud and clear with very very strong midbass, but otherwise dont stand out too much. if you want to go the sq route, lose the 4x6 and find a rainbow/dls/focal system that has 1 tweeter, a 6.5 mid, and a 6.5 woofer. run the mid and tweeter in the kick. the older focal k3p was like this, the new ones have a like 4in mid...

find some funky pups, theyre in your pricerange and will WANG HARD or you can man up and save money and get a more powerful amp/batt/sub, cuz tbh going from sub to sub to sub in the same space with the same power, it prob wont be a night and day difference, and if youre looking for more than what 4-10s on 1kw or a 12 on 1kw can give you, consider 2 normal 10's in a console, ported, with 2-3kw. that should give you what you want. two level 4 or lvl4xl dc's would be sweet.

I hope I get swine flu
raytard replied to slugdub's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
swine flu is soooooo coool something like 30-40 people in my school were verified to have it, and they all laughed it off and said "atleast it wasnt the REAL flu" idk how this even made the news, and noone else does either....i guess the school shootings and busses full of disabled children going off cliffs have been on the decline i cant wait for next year when they re-break out the "check your candy cuz the neighborhood madman is going to poison your children"...back in the like 70's like 7 kids got sick, so its about due...and you all know your mom told you to check it -
Best Laptop for the money?
raytard replied to finkster's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
asus 1000h 250 at best buy, 1.6ghz atom, gig of ram, 160gig hdd. youtube and email and word processing work great. its small and light and the batt lasts atleast 2 hours of real life usage (online, typing, etc.) and it has windows xp, so, uk, it actually works. i'm on it right now and i love it, but i put ubuntu on it, im kinda turning into a linux fanboy (sony vaio netbook has the same specs, but a smaller screen and no touchpad...its 2000 bux msrp) the only downside i found is that one value in the keyboard registry is off and will make you double type letters sometimes if you type fast like i do, but theres mad tutorials online on how to fix it and it takes like a minute.
