  1. I seen the proto at DC in June when I was out there, nice beefy lil guys a SA8 vs DC8 thread would definitely be a good thread/test
  2. I first went to this by accident last year on my way to work. This year I actually had a week notice. I went late today, waiting for my gf, but damn, I just NEVER get enough of the Raptor or the Stealth Bomber Tomorrow I'am hoping to get inside the gates, not like all us poor people on the grassy knolls Since this is for Sep 11, 12th Anyone going on Sunday?
  3. Drew, that style box rocks man, dont let anyone tell you different That horn, or clamshell design does work great
  4. I had to clean 6 years of carbon build up neglect from a Safeway oven, spent 3hrs cleaning out fist size chunks of HOT carbon, and sizzling fat FUCK THAT!
  5. Happy Birthday Lynbo ya damn lurker!
  6. Okay, this is totally doable. I did something like this before, but after seeing a few other videos, this is way to easy
  7. I would say the 15s would meter well, if that is what you looking for, the 8s would only be impressive sounding in comparison to the 15s
  8. Since Sundown is dominating the field with a variety of subs, and amps now, and looking to expand, I say hell, jump in to the sound processor field, and don't laugh, but maybe in the future head units Something I personally always wanted to do was get a complete - nice sound system from head unite, to components, to amps, to subs. Its very hard to find that in a company these days
  9. well besides this video, there is a factory out east somewhere that does this, and has been doing it for awhile. I dont know how old the video is, but the factory that makes the diesel from plastic also uses the fumes to help power the plant
  10. 16 - 18" subs underfloor horn FTW. I love that design, everything about it Was supposed to play down to 5hz really loud, its on the Royal Device website
  11. Horns do work, I build them from time to time myself, I stick to tlines just because they are more predictable, and have a smaller foot print I do believe his designs are more of a horn flared port, on some of his designs anyways. I have one saved on my computer, and that is how THAT particular design is so, if you have a 12" in a 1 - 2cf box, you can make a long port that uses the whole horn idea as well, and the port will be smaller coupled with the air space than an actual dedicated horn/folded horn
  12. ^ Yeah Horn design is more based on larger rooms, as Ed said- hence the PA systems, DJ horns, etc Transmission line boxes do work great in cars from small, to large- They also do take up a lot of room, and are based on the same concept, quarter-wave, and impedance matching, matching up with the subwoofers natural resonance, etc
  13. to bad you dont need a 10" I dont have the dust cap, but I have the cone, spider, and coil that fits for 10" not 12" I can order a recone kit and you can assemble for like $40- 50 dont have the price in front of me I need to inquire mon - fri
  14. Man you did a great job with that wood, getting all the right cuts, angles, etc Looks great man!
  15. the 12s I have no use for. They use a small coil, and have a 5 hole pattern to where the after market frame needs to be modified, or an adapter needs to be made
  16. nobody has these laying around?
  17. well, if you get the tuning right, 2 separate boxes, same subs, I believe same frequency played cancels out all but the difference between the 2 tuning points- There is a math behind it, all about the cycle rate, and combining waves to create common waves I have been determined to find the brown note for years, I will do it one day lol
  18. I found this on Youtube, and I find it very interesting, because it deals a lot with mixing different tones, like 60hz+30hz 1hz_3hz+7hz and just keeps going from there One thing I wanted to do for a long time was get 2 boxes, tuned about 10 hz different, like 35+45 hz, and it should peak at 10hz- that is an example This should be the simpliest and safest way to tune really low But anyways, check the vid out, I really liked 2m30sec
  19. I know a lot of people look for speaker parts like frames, coils, spiders, and cones, and me personally I usually miss them, and the person ends up giving up, or just buying new. Buying new is always good, but sometimes you just have to have that little side project for your free time. I just started working for a new company, so I don't have a whole lot of time for re coning, or custom stuff, so I will probably decline any re cones, maybe a few here and there But I can get recone parts for many older woofers- in parts, not fully glued I have TRF parts spiders from 5" OD to 11" OD I think even a couple 12" spiders- yes OD, talk about some fun projects 2" - 4" spiders on hand, can get spiders for 0.5" coils all the way up to 6" coils 8" - 18" parts A CRAP load of NEW 2" motors These are long throw, higher motor force design available for dual, and single coil gaps No one bought any of these last I posted them, not a single one! $25 each, and they bolt up to about anything hit me up on any questions

The box design I think I remember you telling me someone else designed for you? And you wanted me to build it too I think, but I passed because most of my wood working stuff isn't here, or I don't have the space for making boxes here But I'am curious what else there is? lol Dude that "box design" I forgot about right when I got busy at work again Work = no time for side business
  21. Wondering if anyone has dead type R 15s laying around, I finally found me some coils to fit these guys Same goes for kicker L5s I believe and CVR 18s If you were looking to do something custom with these let me know as well
  22. The height differences between the 12 spoke, and 6 spoke baskets are different So if your getting pre made kits, its important to get the right frame if you are building them, well I have a few 6 spoke 18" baskets, used, but very clean, and would throw in new terminals, you clean for about $30 each + shipping
