  1. Nice Jake! Maybe when the woofer comes out I'll change my name to Nightshade V2 lol.
  2. I guess this could be the issue in my car as well. I will try the same thing as you and see if I have the same type of results. If so thanks for the tip here. I did do one thing and I haven't tried to turn the volume up quick like I would during a bassrace run yet since I've only drove in residental area. I had extended the wires coming from the speakers to the amp and didn't use a butt conector, I just twisted them together and then electrical taped over them. I removed that part and the wire was still long enough to get to the amp, but when I was doing so I also found that the speaker wire from that amp was getting pinched under the box. The speaker wire from the other amp was not so maybe that was the case to why mine was doing so. I need to take a drive out on the highway for a minute to get the car to full tilt to see if that was the issue. I'll still let you guys know otherwise.
  3. Your not losing that much pressure from your hatch. I can burp my ZX3 with the hatch not even completely latched and I only drop by about .7db's. I found this out because there are some little rubber stopper type things on my hatch that were sticking out way too far from vibration I guess and didn't allow the hatch to completely close. Once I tighetend them back up the score jumped up by .7 db. I would also be willing to bet that since your volatge is dropping so low that is what is not letting you achieve the output you should be. What does your voltage drop to when you burp the car? What amps are you running and what does the electrical consist of? If you say stock alternator and you are running over 3K watts then I promise you that is the first thing you need to address more than some air leaking out the hatch.
  4. Out of the 3 that you listed Sundown, AQ, and DC the Sundown are by far the best imo. I'm not sure if you've seen the score that Jacob, the owner of Sundown, did with his Jeep but it was with 4 SA12's and 2 3500's and he did over a 154 with them. They can take well over 2K watts for burps and will handle over a thousand on a daily basis if your smart about it. I've never seen the other two woofers mentioned perform like that with 2X the rated power on them. Also Sundown's customer service is the BEST out there. I will personally challenge you to prove me wrong on that one Jake is one of the only owner's that I know of that is actively in the competition lanes right beside his customers to offer support as well as a challenge!
  5. I'm having a similar issue in my vehicle with one of my saz2000d's. It's the same amp that protects every time. It really only does it when I run a bassrace run cause I turn the volume up quick to get to a 149.9 The other amp is fine in my case just like yours. My voltage doesn't drop below 13 on music so I'm not sure why it is doing this either. I'm going to Jacob's sometime this week and if I figure it out I'll definately let you know what it was in my case so maybe it will help you out too.
  6. Sorry I voted for Bobby Riley. If anyone deserves a sponsorship from a company it's him because he knows what to do with it. No offense but I've never heard of you or anyone else in the contest. Bobby is the only veteran competitor on that list that will more than likely put the RF gear to best use. Just because someone gives you a bunch of stuff doesn't mean that you'll be loud. You have to know what you are doing and since I've never heard of the rest that is the reason I voted for him. I'm not knocking you in any way at all so good luck.
  7. I'm speachless after watching a few of these vids. WTF???????????????
  8. Rob what kind of 0 guage is that on the spool there? Also are you going to get those batts in the trunk so you can run in the NSPL trunk class?
  9. My turkey is cooking right now and I'm the one doing it. The wife is working at her job right now and I'm the one that has to cook dinner. We won't be eating until around 8 or so cause she doesn't get done with work until 7:30.
  10. That 3500 looks like it needs to be put to use. I'm sure it's tired of sitting in the box, I can haz it?
  11. You are looking for passive crossovers right? They are the ones that come with a comp set that you have to mount near the speaker to cross them over. If so I have a great pair of crossovers from the PPI 555CS speakers that will even let you biamp them. I could ship if interested. I didn't use them even though I wanted to cause I ended up running active off my Sundown sax50.4 instead. I would consider taking $40 plus shipping if your interested. Let me know cause I don't mind hanging on to them either since they're pretty bad ass passive x overs. Here's a link to a pic of them: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures_ne...amp;source=ebay
  12. Well... when do you want me to come and pick it up, lol? J/k, I'm sure that she can wait until they go into production. I wouldn't be surprised though if she asks you about it next time she sees you
  13. Jake, the wife said she wants one for her Civic to test out. What can you do about that for her ? I'm serious when she saw it she said YES to me asking her if she would like to have one.
  14. Thanks Danny! Thanks to the rest of you too. If you still ever want any help with your Kia you know I will do what I can. We got over a db out of it at NSPL finals with only 45 minutes or so of playing around. Just hit me up at a show or something and I'll help you all I can.
  15. I thought the video of the Jack N the Box drive through was nice. For some reason I thought you were giving the guy your autograph, and then I realized that you were just signing the receipt for your food, lol. Has that ever happend, someone asking you for an autograph?
  16. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! I can't wait to get the car back into the lanes for this new season with the spl setup again. Yesterday's show I used the daily/bassrace box, so that record that's on the shirt will be broken in about a month
  17. Today I went to a NSPL show here in North Carolina in the pouring rain. Not only did I take first in my spl class and bassrace, but I also got a nice gift from Fred Wright Jr. Fred is the founder, owner, and president of the National Sound Pressure League aka NSPL. NSPL is an organization that has been around since the mid 1990's and is expanding quite a bit as of late. Some of the states that participate in NSPL are North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Deleware, Florida, and the country of Brazil. Anyway after the show today I was told by Fred that he had a surprise for me. I was excited to see what it was and asked about it. He said it was more of a personal surprise and I had no idea what the hell it was going to be. Then he handed me this: But it's on the back that counts! Would you like a close up??? Not close enough??? Hmmm, is this better??? These are the current and loudest ever NSPL Hardcore World Record holders. And look there's your boy Team High X-Cursion Zach right there on the list You may notice some of the names on there to be some true titans in the SPL community. I'm honored to share company with these men and hope that I achieve some of the status and success as the greats to be on the list. In case some of you don't know what the Hardcore portion of NSPL is, it's when the Term Lab sensor is placed on the kick pannel of the car with the car able to be vented while trying to achieve the highest spl possible. NSPL also does Db Drag style metering on the passenger side dash sealed as well as Streetbass, which is very similar to Bassrace. It is truly a great organization that recognizes the achievements of it's members/competitors. If any of you are in the states listed or close to them I suggest that you come out and give NSPL a try. There's everything from beginer classes to heavily modifed classes as well as Streetbass and the SPL Eliminator. If you have any questions about shows and the organization check them out at nsplcompetition.com
  18. Kent, you should try your spl box in that Focus and I promis that you'll do over a 150 with it in there. I'm not saying that the Expo isn't loud I just know for a fact that your box has perfect specs to work well in a ZX3. Same way as your Expo it would need to have woofers up and port to driver's side. Vids looked great!
  19. With just 3 yellow tops and no high output alt you are probably dropping into the low 11's maybe even high 10's as far as voltage goes. That is more than likely the reason the amp cut off. The protection circuit on the Sundown amps is pretty much flawless and is better than a fuse imo I use the protection to help me set my amps for burps. If it protects I know that I'm making about the limit of power that I can make
  20. Sounds good then. Just say the word whenever you are ready and you know I'll come on by. I'm thinking about coming within the next week or two anyway. I have my alt set up to be put on so I won't be by for that, probably just to come by and see what kind of trouble I can get into.
  21. Jake, you wanna build a pair of dual 1 ohm 15's to test in my car? I'd be more than happy to help you with any R&D as well as QC.
  22. I don't think that's a good trade on your part at all unless that guy is throwing you about a grand or more in cash along with his truck.
