  1. I don't see why 17" is not enough for a 15" woofer. The boxes I put 15's in usually have less on the face then 17". I usually try to put a 15" woofer in a box that is 16-16.5" on the face where the sub is mounted. If it were me I'd make that 15 fit.
  2. Your Sundown decal will be fine. I've had mine on my car for over a year and had no issues with it.
  3. The weather actually affects your frequency more than anything. Usually the warmer it is the higher the freq and the cooler it is the lower the freq. I'll search for a thread on Termpro that I was involved in about 2 years ago when this exact thing was discussed. Here you are read this thread and hopefully it will help a bit. http://audioforum.termpro.com/cgi-bin/ubb/...pic/3/6888.html
  4. I have two brand new still in the box never used Clarion sw1051 10" subs that are single 4 ohm coils. I've been looking to get rid of these things for awhile now and I'll do a killer deal for you on them if you want. I'm sending you a pm now.
  5. Active means that you don't use the crossovers that come with the component set and you use either an amp, deck, or seperate electronic crossover to seperate the frequencies with. When you just use the crossover box that comes with the comp set that is a passive setup. I'm running my Kicker RS65.2 comp set actively off of a Sundown sax50.4 and it sounds much better and cleaner than when I was running passively off of a Cerwin Vega Exl400.4
  6. If money is an issue I'd go with the 4004, but the 8004 is definately the better choice. You can even use the amp's onboard crossover to run the comps actively if you wanted to. I'd actually reccomend that, but you have to be careful cause you'll lose your tweeter protection that way.
  7. If you have enough of them you can recycle them to get your money back out of it. It's not going to be much unless you have about 20 or so.
  8. The Kinetik 2400's are no where remotely close to the XS Power D3100's and those of you that are saying so are mistaken. I've seen actual battery swaps with a 2400 to a D3100 and the D3100 was 1.1 db louder on a burp. Each battery was brand new and were also put up against a Deka G31 and the Deka was .7db louder than the Kinetik 2400. Now if you don't think that performance is going to transfer over to a daily setup your wrong too. Same batteries on music and the Kinetik was dropping to 12.3-12.4 while the D3100 never dipped below 12.7 volts. There is a huge difference. Listen to Scottie when he tells you that a 2700 is a closer equilivent to a 2400, but the 2700 is still going to be the better bet for your money hands down. Team XS Power FTW!!!!!
  9. The only thing that I'd be worried about is that it's a Dual. Other than that your good. I actually think that because it's in front of a vent putting out cool air that is a plus. It will help keep the components inside the screen cool and stop them from overheating. I don't see a problem with that at all.
  10. I'd like to see you slam a mid 90's Tacoma. They are one of the best trucks ever made and you don't see too many of them dropped and done right. I'm sure if you did one it would be dead as hell and look badass too. It's something that I've always wanted to do, but I've never had the money for the project.
  11. Second Skin is the only deadener I will ever use again. I have proven it to work better in my car over other deadeners by using it and getting more of an increase in spl with it. I would send Ant an email if your looking for a large quantity and he may cut you a deal.
  12. The Sundown sax50.4 is a little monster. I just put one in my car to replace a Cerwin Vega EXL400.4 that did 100X4 and the Sundown is way louder and sounds much better. These are no longer being made, but Jacob is selling off the rest of them and you could easily get one for less than what you said Rusty is selling the DC amp for. The Sundown sax50.4's go for $200 on ***.com so you could even just get one there and I guarantee that it will keep up with the DC all day long. The amp is rated at 50X4, but will do more like 90X4 at 14.4 volts instead of 12 where Jacob does his ratings at.
  13. The green Astro that your talking about is John Henry's van. It did that number on the Audio Control meter and would only do a 170 or so on the new Term Lab meters of today. The world's loudest is right in the 181 db area and keeps going up and down around that number. No one has officially done a 182 in competition yet but to give you a fair comparrison today's setups would do around a 192 or so on the older Audio Control meters if they could actually read that high.
  14. Walt I told you not to take any pics of yourself with my trophy. Seriously though what class is that from?
  15. I'm gonna hold this for a week for a potential buyer and if it falls through I'm just going to keep it so until further notice I would say consider this amp not for sale.
  16. Like I told you in a pm those ones on ebay are REFURBS. This one that I have is not. If you want to take a chance on an amp that has allready been blown the fuck up by some dumbass and fixed then go ahead. I'm probably just going to either sell it locally or put it in my wife's car. I am the only owner of this amp and it is basically in brand new condition minus a few small scratches, unlike a beat up refurb from ebay.
  17. This is an awesome sounding amp that is better than some that I've seen sold on here very recently for more money. If you want SQ for pennies then here it is. If there isn't going to be anymore interest in this I'm going to throw it back in the collection. My final price is $75 shipped and insured to the lower 48. If anyone's interested let me know now otherwise it's going to be off in a couple of days. I really wanted the money to pay for another component set but I broke down and just spent some other money that I had. So I don't really need to sell this anymore. If you want it let me know and we'll work it out or maybe I'll just put it in the wife's car.
  18. I wouldn't run a line driver at all. I've found the Sundown amps to like a deck with a 4 volt preout. I would get one of those before I ever ran a line driver. I also have a similar problem as you with voltage drop. I sit at 14.7 at idle and when I burp the car it drops the voltage down to 11.2 volts. The best way to keep your voltage up is by adding a couple more runs of wire and also adding a high output alternator. That will be your best bet with adding the alt to keep the voltage up.
  19. Good score, but why only 10 volts? Is that what your voltage was dropping to? If so that makes sense.
