Officially love bass
Chris from Mi replied to tkennedy88's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
i find bass really calming, dunno why but i sure as hell miss it, been without beat for about a year now and it sucks -
i'd say go for it, but i'd also try talking him down by 100 or 150 from that 700. I'd say you have the advantage because not many people are going to want to buy car with a blown engine. Oh, and i'd ask to see if you can run a compression test on that second motor so you can get a better idea of why its smoking- just my .02

well, the box size is going to be influenced most by how much power you plan on putting on those things -

RUSTY MUST DIE !!!!
Chris from Mi replied to memphis_finest1's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
i was thinkin rusty was gonna die after lifting all those heavy ass woofers all day when i read the title -
wait, if your running active why do you have a separate crossover listed as items that you used? step 1 purchase a better amp that does at least 80watts rms x2 @ 4 ohm, hook up crossovers as passive, set hpf of better amp to 80-100 hz
-
well, clipping causes a great deal of distortion, how many watts in rms is each side getting? i'm betting not enough and (as said above) the gain is too high causing distortion. Also, what slope is the crossover and be sure its actually at 80 hz, try going a bit higher to see if it will clear it up a bit

the one thing mike didnt discuss i the vid is what size wire to use. you would think the larger the better, but if you put 1/0 wire on the + of your alt and its not made for it the bolt can then act as a resistor and build up wayy to much heat and possibly melt components of the alt. 4 gauge that short can carry more than enough current for your application

wow, nice job i'm diggin the bp in a car, never seen one laid out like that before -
i always wondered how it makes the box "feel" larger to the woofer, and this seemed like a good opportunity to ask?

level 4xl 15
Chris from Mi replied to ambyrell1's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
i'd say with that kind of power 4.5 will be too big, 3.5 would be plenty, especially with it being tuned so high for daily -

i hear you on that, i have a statics class with an asian professor and i can barely understand him, not to mention it seems like he just teaches straight from the book, but with a TERRIBLE accent. Luckily this semester is the first that this has happened (english speaking teachers ftw), so i just have to be a bit more selective while choosing classes next semester -
