  1. gonna mount the jl a1400 on the extra part of the baffle with rubber grommets and prolly some bracing behind it. Off of one channel of my jbl 75.4 (150@2) they were ok....not really what we were hoping for, but at the same time they were really moving off of 70 watts each, and they were sealed up pretty good too. Can anyone recommend a pair of 8's that would get loud in a sealed enclosure?
  2. finally finished up the box for my buddy's 01 s2k, i'll let the pics do the talking but the specs are: 0.6 cu ft sealed, with 2 jl 8w0's and soon to be jl a1400 (500 rms @2) once we get the wiring. now for pics
  3. i feel the same way, funny i didnt know there were any smd members around that area (home is on 16 mile). I could hardly believe my ears when i heard the film industry is getting big in michigan, and even more amazed at the problems they are getting from the state
  4. most likely thats the cause of the hissing, does it hiss once you unplug them?
  5. 12 stones, godsmack, velvet revolver are a few to name, itunes genius ftw
  6. figure it out like you would any other electrical problems work your way through the possibilities. Unplug rca's, still does it? check ALL wiring, try with car on/off, i'll bet its one of those three.....or the third option, something is wrong with your amp
  7. nope, def not as cool. Hell we don't even have a football team.
  8. it dropped to 77 last night ......but if i were back home in michigan i would have been seeing 46
  9. damn that sucks, we didnt even get to see magic spl smoke
  10. Sundownz 151 w/ single 15" a single 15" can be a very good setup, def good bang for the buck.....if done right. Read through the thread, it may give you some ideas
  11. They may not have a ton of power, but they handle like a champ, with some new rubber and a new front sway bar, they rock autocross

  13. i've got a motor and basket off an elevation audio sqx 10", i know its a ten, but i was wondering if your interested in the motor (180 oz) elevation audio sqx
  14. my engine took a $hit in my car (2nd engine i put in it), so i wasnt worth getting another engine. I've been trying to save up for another car even if its just a pos, but its so damn hard saving while in college. I can't wait for summer to get here so i can work my ass off again. Both my parents jobs are on the line and their hours are constantly getting cut, so they cant afford to give me much at all ($10-20 here and there) This economy sucks, but i'd rather it be bad now.....i just hope it will improve in the next 3 years
  15. i'm sure a ton of people will agree with me on this in that you have a pretty darn good 1st setup. If your having problems with it sounding bad, 90% of the time its the box, or amp settings. look up how to set your gain with a multimeter, and look into making a new box, because that prefab is killing your sq/ output. My second setup was 2 15" kicker cvr's, and they got pretty loud just off of 400 rms for the pair. heres a vid of a pair of cvr's on 1500 rms gettin f'n loud *** (not my vid)
  16. there is no way in hell your blew them because the spiders were not broken in. Subs die for 2 reason, thermally and mechanically. A tighter surround WILL NOT cause the sub will blow, if anything it will help it from bottoming out, therefore there is no way that was the culpret. In no way is a spider related to the thermal capacity of the sub, so there is no way it blew thermally due to not breaking in the spider. You could easily blow a 1000 watt rated sub with 300 watts if you clip the hell out of it. What kind of box did you have them , and what were the settings on the amp and head unit when you blew it, cause i'm sure it was clipped
  17. wish i could help, diff eq is next semester.....thats if i get through calc 3, stupid foreign professors
  18. well, if your strapped for cash, 40 bucks for supplies to make your own box (assuming its designed well) will make a world of difference
  19. haha, i heard about this top gear episode and had to check it out for myself, they put an old diesel toyota hilux through the most torment you could think of.....and without replacing ANYTHING it still drove afterwards, here's the three links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrk6vsb77xk hummmm, think you could put a ford/ gm/ Chrysler through that and have to replace nothing?:inout but at the same time.....they got damn lucky that could have easily broken an axle etc
  20. not bad, i really enjoyed creed when i was younger, its cool to see them come back, along with blink 182. I like the new style- good find
  21. you can get away with about 8 to 10 sq inches of port per cube, so multiply that by 13 cubes, and the area of a circle is pi r*r,
