Box porting?
bobonit replied to xXGoNeXx's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Going from sealed to ported is usually not as easy as just punching a couple of holes in the box and putting in some ports. You would be better off building a new box that is designed from the ground up to be ported. And yes, a properly designed ported enclosure should be louder. -

With a 1000 watt amp, you don't need a bigger alternator just yet. Do the Big 3 in 1/0 gauge and add a 2nd battery close to where the amp is installed. Make sure your grounds are good (to the frame). If the battery up front is questionable, replace that as well. With all that done, monitor your voltage, if you are still getting too much voltage drop, then think about a better alternator.

S-10 anyone?

I got the need, the need for speed! Nice! -
Sounds like your amp is in need of repair. On top of that, disconnect your subs and check the coils with a DMM to see if they are shorted.

I'm an older guy who listens to rock and I'm putting in 2 15" Nightshades and 6000 watts. Why? Because I can. -
I saw the Division Bell tour at Dolphin Stadium in Miami. Awesome show, we had seats down on the floor (football field) right next to the sound booth. The sound was incredible, and even more incredible was the laser show. It rained the entire show, so the gold lasers they were using had a great effect as the rain fell through them and the beams were hitting the storm clouds. And for the record yes, I was high as a kite.

Nothing wrong there, true statement. I even stated in my post that I agreed it was in the wrong section. That is the part I thought was uncalled for. He was just making a statement, not trying to teach you anything. Lighten up a little. There are more important things to worry about than someone posting in the wrong section.

I thought that X1 meant times 1 and X10 meant times 10, so what ever the dial was at you multiply by one or by ten. -
If I were you, I'd take the offer from DD.

I'm gonna take a guess and say that he needs the T/S parameters to model an enclosure?

First re-cone, probably not the last.

Unfortunately the best way to learn is hands on practice. If you think your soldering skills are what made it fail, practice up on your soldering. Do you have any old circuit boards lying around? Just starting pulling stuff and soldering it back in. Get a bunch of small wire, cut it into small lengths and practice soldering them together. Stuff like that. Then apply that to your next recone.
