  1. look at my recent topics and you'll get an idea. well you old farts keep talking about how old you are and us dang kids. thought you would know something useful. that is good to know. i might have assumed it broken while it warms up. and guess on time? they are supposed to sound better. we will see.
  2. any help on this guy?
  3. WTF are you bitching about? you have 5 pages of compliments. is that not enough? you need 10? or are you just sad that you didnt win SOTM?
  4. well you do have a sony xplode amp... dont cry cause you are not getting your ass kissed. my build log moved fairly slow compared to others. i did a great build for a friend and it got like 5 comments. the fact is, you have a basic build and we see it ALL the time. its not interesting. we dont pat you on the back and coddle you like mommy does. we are men here. if you dont get the attention you obviously need, build something better. or just be happy with your hard work. that should be enough for you, without praise from other people.
  5. check out what I found. no idea if it works or now but i was wondering if anyone knows anything about tube amps and could teach me about this one. if it does work im going to use it, not sell it. if it doesnt work... well if its a tube then it'll cost too much to fix. aren't tubes over $1000?
  6. if it were me, i would do the FI just because i want to try the new neo motors. those look cool.
  7. i would simply do bolts to hold the amps down. then the thief has to get to the backside of the bolt as well as the front so he needs 2 tools. then you could recess the bolt on the back side so you cant get a crecent wrench into it. now make the bolt too long for a regular socket and they would have to have deep well sockets. thats a simple way to do it and it would just take too much time to figure out even if they did have the correct tools, since you probably wont be able to see the nut on the back side to fine what size it is.
  8. ^IMO, this should be the first red flag. running 3 completely different batteries is probably a bad idea ive never put much stock into that theory. my 1st set of batteries was a yellowtop, NGT, batcap, and i was borrowing a kinetik. changes all my batteries to kinetik and had no change at all. just cost me a bunch of money. just my experience.
  9. well, in nebraska youll probably be doing midwest spl. so classes depend on the actual power you get from your amps. they will clamp the amps and tell you. the meter goes on the dash, dbdrag style. im pretty sure you can open a door so try the driver door open, or just the window down. putting your visors down might help a little, seat position, glove box open, even ac vents open or closed might make a difference. if you get the time, just play with those things. how far are you from lincoln?
  10. He said bass knob, as in remote gain. At least i'm pretty sure that's what he meant. Even if his settings are terrible, the only reason why they would be any different would be that he moved them somehow. i would have to be reminded how the AP amps work. if its a remote gain or remote boost.
  11. so many red flags... the gain is almost all the way up? blindly turning dials? bass boost? how did you set your gains before you mounted it?
  12. haha, $2000 for a couple pulleys and a belt? ok.
  13. break a CD? ive almost made a tube out of one and it didnt break.
  14. well ya, i figured i didnt want to use the 5v rail lol. ok. i just got my hands on some power supplies for these racks we make at work. we were going to throw them out because they are an old model. i was told two of them can do something like 1500w. we will see if that works out.
  15. they dont have to be computer power supplies. just an AC - DC supply. I dont care.
  16. haha, actually i was vacuuming my car one day and put the vacuum up to one of my amp rack fans. it turned on all my amps lol. freaked me out.
  17. i have one but i really dont think it will work. the wind spins a fan. the air from the sub would be pushing and pulling the fan... i dunno, could try it.
  18. im looking at getting a power supply to run my amps at home. I dont know a damn thing about them though. i think 20amps would be enough but having more is always nice. but the specs all seem to be about max output and im not sure what real output would be, if its the same trick they use with amps. ive also heard people talking here about moding them to run at 14v or 15v. not sure how to do that. im looking for a cheap option. needs to be really quiet. i came across these two so far. let me know if they are good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152035 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182202 lets say, the most power I can get for $50.
  19. i dont see you working. i see the boss working while you slack off! tisk tisk tisk.
  20. it is! lol. i cant believe i own a sony amp. but i am very grateful to auzzie for giving me a working amp.
  21. ya. its nothing spectacular but its a hell of a lot better than the TV speakers lol. and you can't beat the price.
  22. the idq is a great sub but yours WILL be louder. unless you build a fail box.
  23. woo hoo, i made the end of the list lol. just build what will make you happy. no need to be competitive with it. no reason you cant hang around and bull shit with us. but hey man, good luck with whatever you do.
