  1. the meter wasnt made for a car audio system. its just a rebadged meter. it was never intended to measure the frequencies that a subwoofer produces. so you bring it closer to your mids and you get a higher reading. with your subs, it just cant "hear" them. the term lab is made for low frequencies and cant pick up higher ones. i think it cuts off around 100hz for the TL.
  2. well the ports are going to be 2 4in aero's as that's what my box already has i just need to figure out what cubes to go with as i made my box to where i can slide the baffle in and out of the box so i can change the amount of cubes the sub's are seeing just to check, how do you seal and attach the baffle once moved?
  3. lol because its the box you built, its the box everyone should build.
  4. now that box is way too small and the tuning is fuckin high.
  5. i go by numbers over a piece of paper flapping. you can look at the number in my sig to see why i like more port area.
  6. Thanks! Only reason I put that there was the spl gains thread. I know it won't give me that much but I figured I'd try to squeeze as much out of this as I can. And I did calculate the displacment of it, but looking at it now it looks a bit small. But do you think I should just get rid of it? And is there a reason that torres is consistently about .2 cuft. less than my own calculations of the net volume? you can leave it. just looks like more than .055 of displacement. maybe you made a mistake? did you account for the thickness of the port wall? maybe thats where you have your discrepancy.
  7. wish i was still in nebraska. i'd go listen to it lol.
  8. one 6" aero is pretty small for even 3.5 cubes. i had two 6"s in mine.
  9. port is too small. box is too small. get it over 3 cubes at least.
  10. looks great man. wonderful first design. only thing i see wrong is that whammy on the bottom. i dont think that will do much for you but the actual problem i see is that it doesnt look like you calculated it into displacement. so that will raise your tuning from what you think it is, if you dont correct for it.
  11. i might have two kinetik 2400s and a 1800 ill sell
  12. if you say you dont have a budget, people will suggest speakers $500+. is that really a price you are ok with? just set a limit to make it easy.
  13. if $50 is your budget for one set of speakers, it wont make a big difference what you get. there are shit brands to stay away from, but you wont get anything spectacular for $50. if thats your budget and it's set, fine. im not here to knock you for that. but dont say you are looking for SQ and expect a cheap option. tell us your budget and people will find you some options.
  14. spraying water is supposed to spead up curing. maybe a light spray inside the bag before and after applying the foam. might as well give it a shot. let us know what works.
  15. i tried this once a few years ago. the foam never hardened inside the bag. give it a shot, just do a test bag first and make sure it cures.
  16. cool, thanks. i do a lot of soldering at work and rework motherboards. i think ill be able to find it.
  17. ya, post pics so we can help you build it better next time. 1x1 wood wont do much for bracing.
  18. haha, well i guess i jumped the gun here. i didnt restore yet. figured i would give it another shot, and it didnt work. but then i reset my phone and it worked just fine... my bad.
  19. the newest update seems to have made it so my iphone 3gs doesnt work on my stereo anymore. it'll play songs but wont load playlists, wont show song info, cant select any songs. all i can do is hit "next" anyone know how to go back to the old version?
  20. always wanted to see a solder bath. wish these build houses would add a step for cleaning the flux though.....
  21. its not the decks fault the fuse blows. its users shorting out their RCAs. its like bitching at XSpower for your fuse blowing every time you touch the two wires together. How many guys have to ground their RCAs that run those decks? I've heard too many. I've never had a noise issue with my Kenwoods and I'll continue to run them because the build quality is still great. what does that mean other than a lot of people make stupid mistakes? ive always used pioneers and never have i blown a pico fuse. i have never tried fixing one before but if you are going to throw away the pioneer, i would like to take it and try to figure it out. if you dont mind.

  23. Haha shit I didn't even know that about them. The terminals are the only thing I've bought from them. But I was planning on buying a stinger fuse holder. Perhaps I'll go a different route. ya man, look at darvex.com. you can see 3 different brands "making" the exact same product. http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/Bullz-Audio-Pro-Inline-ANL-Fuse-Holder-28p482.htm http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/Stinger-Inline-ANL-0-Gauge-Fuse-Holder-28p354.htm
