What the Pho'k would you do??
Hotdog replied to MarioB's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Life is not perfect to begin with. I would take the $25.00 hour job and save what you can. Have to think about the family too, Even though it maybe a crappy job the extra money will allow you to do more things with and for the family. -
Furnace is a General Electric I have lived here 18 years and it was here when we moved in There is no feature like this on my furnace I did try putting my old thermostat back in and still nothing so I put the new one back on. AC coil is on top of the furnace and has been cleaned over the weekend. Furnace is a General Electric. Ran the jumper wire and did not get anything I have been searching online and the only thing I can think of is the transformer has gone bad. Unfortunately nothing is open tonight where I can get a transformer.

That was checked and it is good even replace the two big 60 amp fuses. I think the thing that gets me most is it was running fine when we left and when we came back it was off time frame was only 1 hour. The blower wheel and motor was taken out two days ago and completely cleaned and reassembled and put back together. Everything was fine. My system is old enough that it does not have a control board in it so there is no fuse to change.

So the system has been running good over the last few days. I been through the whole system and cleaned it out. Today AC was running fine and we left to take some food to my wife's parents. When we returned home felt warm so I turned down the thermostat and nothing happened. When I say nothing I mean absolutely nothing. Out side AC unit fan will not turn on and the blower in the furnace will not turn on. I figured I would turn the heat on to see if it would start up and nothing at all on heat either. I have a brand new thermostat, so thinking that it could possibly be that I switched to the old one and still nothing.

Recommend electrical to run Skar 4500
Hotdog replied to HunterJohnson's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
Another run from front to back on power wire and and 2 or 3 big Batts in back like the BT120's or D3100 along that line. -
I have a 270 amp alt, stock bat up front and a C&D Hi rate 100ah battery in back and a small Kinetik 25ah cap battery in back and I can bang all day with it at 2ohm. I would get a couple more batteries in back before I went full tilt at 1ohm.

Question for you HVAC workers?
Hotdog replied to Hotdog's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
Ok I will check the AC unit in the morning. It is cooling well though, huge difference from inside and outside. When I left for work my Temp gauge in my vehicle was reading 104 -

Yes did everything. Turned power off, Vacuumed and cleaned the furnace,Changed Filter, Vacuumed and sprayed out the AC unit outside which was dirty as hell (guess I will have to check it more often), Installed new Digital thermostat. Turned AC on and it is much much better. -
I just got done cleaning my AC unit today and Furnace down stairs. Also installed a new digital Thermostat AC has been running for about 3 hours now and house is feeling nice and cool. I have the temp set at 70 deg but the thermostat is reading 81 deg so I grabbed a temp scan tool and I am getting the following temps in the room where the thermostat is located. Duct temp is below 60 deg and blowing good 83.6 deg Center room at ceiling 78.6 Deg center room at floor Temperature outside is about 102 deg Questions 1. What is a typical difference in temperature from floor to ceiling 2. With the temp outside being so high(102) and the starting point of about 88-90 deg inside the house when I turned the AC on do you think it is dropping properly? Little back ground last night I had to turn the furnace on to 90 deg for about 10 min to melt the ice off the evaperator coil then ran with just the fan for 15min then turned AC on and temp started dropping. I knew I had to clean the AC unit the next day so now that the AC unit is cleaned the evaperator coil is working as it should now.

Well I put a gallon of radiator fluid in it the other day and I was thinking oh crap this is not good so I checked the overflow and it looked ok and pulled the dip stick and the oil looked clean and normal. That is another reason I think its the head because you dont just lose coolant like that. I am thinking that the coolant has filled one of the cylinders but has not made it to the oil yet. The car had been parked and not drove since.

I dont know for sure if it was done. I had a friend do it for me and he is a certified mechanic so I would have to assume he did do it since the whole motor was rebuilt with all new gaskets, lifters, push rods. It was a $600.00 kit and the metal head gasket ,lifters and push rods were extra on top of that.

When I bought the car I drove it 3 months and had to replace the rear head and gasket in it because it cracked. drove the car about 30,000 miles then it blows a head gasket so i get a complete rebuild kit with push rods, lifters and a metal head gasket and had someone rebuilt it. Ran great for about 10,000 miles and from experience it looks like another head or gasket must be cracked again. I have white smoke pouring out the exhaust but I have not seen any oil in the radiator and the oil looks fine does not smell or have a milky color to it.
