They are really really bright sounding, but really clean. If bright is your thing, go for em.

Advice on new subs
Sanitarium replied to Ewilk's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
My advice wouldn't be on the subs but for you to hang out on the forums some more and read through some build logs. Good subs in that price range would LAUGH... HARD at that kinda power. -
Will this work if I do this to my port?
Sanitarium replied to Davo2378's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
i think you should leave the overall box alone, and make a port insert. Slide it in for daily and take it back out when you wanna get on the meter. Edit: oh and with this being an suv box (judging by orientation of subs and port..) you can easily get away with 11 square inches of port per cube and not hear any port noise from the listening position. Oh and you forgot sub displacement in your little calculations up there. Which won't make much of a difference honestly, people stress too much over exact tunings. -
people have had troubles out of the AV series but the one you linked is just the younger brother to the old kv.2 series. which i bought a set of, which have run now for 6 years without a hitch. it's funny how people will knock an entire brand over 1 sub's faults. fucking haters at every turn on this forum.

AQ Vs. AP
Sanitarium replied to RyanJ's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
OH forgot to mention that the reserves of your battery are also limited but on music the excess current freed up by blank spots in the music will free up amperage from your alternator to recharge the battery. so keeping your battery charged won't be an issue. -
AQ Vs. AP

Yeah I noticed that too. Thank god. Just wondering, say I have an 80 volt alt. Or whatever they call it. Like Watts, Volts, whatever it is for an alt. Say its 80. And the 2 Sundown Audio SA-12's with the AQ1200D. What do you think my voltage drop would be? you really do have a lot to learn. the aq1200d amp can pull 120 amps. but will only do so while it's playing notes. Your alternator may do 13.8 - 14.4 volts anywhere between 80 and 120 amps depending on your car. the car itself needs some of that power to run. so say you got 40 to 80 amps left over to use. your battery will hold a small amount of this higher voltage charge before it resorts to drawing from it's reserves. you outpull your alternator (like you will do) you'll drop to the 12 volt range (which is what your battery rests at comfortably) you outpull your battery (like you will NOT do with that amp and a half way decent under hood battery) and your voltage will drop under 12s. Either way, you will notice a dimming of the lights with regular halogen lights. -
AQ Vs. AP

Did anyone else notice this? Why the hell are you telling him the AQ can run .5 daily? He clearly stated he has a budget, and in order to run ANY amp at .5 ohm daily, you've got to have a beefy electrical. This is another example of noobs giving noobs dumbass advice. OP, yes AQ will give you cleaner power, but PLEASE, don't listen to the post stated above. At your experience, I wouldn't run any amp at .5 ohm. Not being a dick, just giving you precious advice. I'd say his telling the op that the aq can do .5 daily is a testament to the quality and durability of the amp, not a recommendation to op of how to use them. OP: the aq is an under rated amp that can easily do over 1400 wrms. the AP is an over rated amp that needs 14.5 volts to get close to it's 1500 wrms rating. You can't really go wrong either way, i just hope you understand WHAT you are buying before you buy it. -
if your alt is putting out 14 volts. and your amp outdraws it by even 1 amp dropping the voltage down to battery level, your lights see a 2 volt drop and will show it. 12.x volts is not a bad thing, just means you're not getting as much out of your amp as you could. 11 volts and under.... yeah time to add a battery.

You seem like an intelligent guy. May I ask you a question? Since we're talking about electrical, would I be able to RUN 2 Sundown Audio SA-12's D4 on an AQ2200D with a stock alt. But I'll get a battery in the back, like 2400 watts, or something like that. But I won't have THAT battery until like 2 months after I INSTALL my system. Make sense? Or am I just wasting words. :/ that would be fine, just make sure you do the necessary wireing upgrade to get the most out of the electrical under your hood. Remember, you can run all the wattage you want with a stock alt as long as you know the limits of your system, don't mind staying in the 12's with your voltage, maintain the batteries, and run enough batteries to keep up (in the 12 volt range).

Dont have the right tool to remove cd player what home object can i use to get it out lol pair of butterknives will work for most aftermarket headunits. -
just do that. 3.5 cubes per 15 is fine, and is actually optimal if you're gonna overpower them.

Box Help
Sanitarium replied to R3nOSlaPP's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
i have a about a 40 inch by 40 inch square that i can use i have a 86 4runner if that helps at all 3 cubes. 31 hz 19" tall external. 17.5 internal looks great but is it a 2 1/2 wide port? how do you think it would sound?? would this box give it deep bass? yes good yes this is a design i did for someone else and they've already built it and love it. Mods to get more out of it include: route the mount of the port with a roundover bit, put a 45 in that back left corner. puta smaller 45 in the back right corner, and resin the inside of the box smooth as glass. -

look up torres calculator on here, use it to design a box for the space you have (that you didn't give us so we can't do it for you) aim for the 12 to 16 square inches of port per net cubic foot range. -

Power wire and fuses
Sanitarium replied to ptcary's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
If you got 2 amps that need 100 amps of fusing, you need a 200 amp fuse up front and wire that can handle that.
