you cant cut a piece of MDF to mount the speaker to? just use the existing hole for the magnet? custom door panels? you could do rockford 4" T142 coaxels in the doors then do 6.5 components in the back and in some qlogic kick panels.... that would be a really good set up... eclipse units are nice....

kick panels go down by the floor and hold your speakers...... google them up... Mb quarts are great speakers... i forget what model they were but i ran there coaxels(150$ a pair) they were amazing...

boston acoustics makes some nice cheap speakers.... prob give your dad what he is looking for... he is prob best just going off to best buy and picking a pair there...

orion subs will take some power and abuse.... my buddy runs both of his 10s at 1200RMS each and they slam... they can take more but at that power they hit hard as hell...

these rags... they are from chemicals of st paul.... they remove ANYTHING!!!!! my father in law gets them from st paul abrasives... these rags are worth there weight in gold

loud SQ JL will win.... if you want SPL and no real SQ then BTL... but you cant remotely compare a 13" sub to a 18.... 18 move a shit load more air.... a fi btl 12 to a JL sub is a more realistic comparison...
