  1. You may have a actuator that switches between hot and cold, I had the same issue with hot and cold not switching. I think it is called a mode door actuator. Could be that. Get a odb meter and check it. (rent or borrow one from a auto store, they are like 250 if u buy 1)
  2. I would need to grind off about an 1/8th(thick not height on about a 2sq in area) on the bracket in my engine. I would just expect to hear that before I buy a 450 dollar alt.
  3. I think it just hasn't been moved in years, I'll go try some more and if it breaks... O well.
  4. And I don't have anything with me long enough(over 10") to get a lot of tension on it, I usually see my dad when he does his or anything that needs a lot of tension putting a pipe over the side of the wrench to extend it.
  5. Well I could get the tensioner to move some, just not near enough, so I thought, maybe I can take some of the tension off with this think that says load on it.
  6. Not really sure on the second part, I tried turning it and daaaaamn, it ain't budging, maybe I either need more leverage, or it does hold it in place.
  7. Mine doesn't have the same tensioner, no slot in the back, it has a load circle with and arm that goes to the tensioner
  8. 95 chevy truck I am trying to get the belt off for my new alt and it seems waaaaay to hard to pull the tensioner off the belt, and then I saw something connected to it to the northwest side with the word load on it. Does that mean the load of the tension on the belt? Preferably older model chevy owners answer please.
  9. my lvl 5 smelled like glue when i played it hard first in the box, and i know for sure it wasnt hot, i could smell glue ish whenever it played low notes. (gain half of what it should have been at, and voltage steady at 13.6)
  10. lol, it depends on how many batteries, ive seen 7k on a stock 100amp alt, but the dude had 10 fat ass batteries. running high power needs charging but charging is nothing without somewhere to store the power. well i plan on running a dc 5k on a 185 amp alt with 2 beefy batteries in the back. with 2 level 4 xl dc 12's you will probably want 1 or 2 more batteries, but hell, before you spend any extra money on batteries, see how your voltage sits with just the two, if you need more, then get more.

  12. lol i had been talking to rusty earlier, and i hand to send in a UPS claim because when i sent my level 5 back they dropped it and smashed in the side of the basket. He told me to send a claim and call him back when i did, but i have yet been able to get through from my 20 phone calls, ill just keep trying. (i insured it for 500 luckily). Very smart to insure for $500. Luckily all you need is a basket and recone and you should come out money ahead with the claim as long as the motor was not damaged. motor is fine, or at least it looks fine to rusty, i got a hold of him and hopefully UPS will come look at it today or tomorrow so it can be rebuilt soon. And i will hopefully get my 90 dollar shipping back too. so i might end up with way more than i would have put in for a recone (what it would have needed if it arrived ok).

  14. can one of the DC reps relay a message to DC for me (need to tell Rusty something) and the phones are not getting picked up. Thanks, just pm me who ever can.
  15. did he join the forum to ask for a DC price?
  16. They rate like that just like any other company(DC, SA,AA) I think because of peoples experience levels. The average Joe could easily smoke a hdc with 1000 rms due to ignorance of how amps work(the low rms rating is kind of a fail safe for dummies) when someone who knows the difference between clean and dirty power could feed whatever they want to it within reason, or that's how I think of their ratings.
  17. Even aq says that the hdcs can handle a 2200, and alums 2-3k. That was what i was told when I emailed them about power handling. A 1200 is fine, will get better as it loosens up, but a 2200 is needed to reach it's full potential I would imagine.
  18. If you check the other forum I posted one, don't know if you saw it yet.
