  1. I think Tony D said it accounted for that somehow, that's why you are supposed to set your amps with the car not running.
  2. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/188255-are-those-amps-in-yet/?fromsearch=1
  3. I thought the 10k was rated at 12v Looks like I was wrong!
  4. like I said, Tony D says it's fine and that is good enough for me.
  5. Tony D said no, it's accounted for somehow. How that works is so far over my head though.
  6. Cover their ass from what? I was told to set with the engine off to reduce the chance of extra noise that could be in the system. Seems like the question is what effect input voltage (power side not signal side) has on gain. I won't pretend to understand enough about how amps work to know the answer.
  7. I agree. The people who can run more than rated already know when to stop. If you have to ask where that limit is, stick with the manufacturers recommendations. I wouldn't recommend suggesting nearly 2.5 times the manu's recommended specs for OP.
  8. not really, just anything that will fit between the panels and metal. You can use expanding spray foam but you have to be careful with that stuff and make sure it doesn't get everywhere. Make sure the panels are tightened down too, loose screws and connectors will make it more difficult to stop rattles.
  9. deadener lowers resonant frequency of a vehicle, it isn't supposed to be a rattle stopper or to quiet noise. It can do those things, but it isn't very efficient at it. If you want to stop rattles, tighten the connectors and put something in to keep panels from hitting other panels or metal (like some foam padding between panels and metal)
  10. what is your goal with deadener? Also, probably going to get lots of people saying to use Second Skin over hush mat since you posted in the second skin section and all. Double layering deadener seems to be a waste to me, unless you are trying to do something other than deaden your vehicle.
  11. If you bought an album and then want to rip it onto the computer then it depends on the rip quality. 320kbs is probably what you should rip it at. but lower rip quality shouldn't introduce clipping so it should be ok. The sound quality might be worse, but it should hurt equipment.
  12. that shouldn't introduce any clipping, but that doesn't mean the music wasn't already clipped. But, that shouldn't be any different than if you played it from the CD
  13. youtube music bass heavy music using -10db and overpowering all three of those are likely playing a part. Especially that youtube part...
  14. True, he can't make a 2 hour 160 mile trip either, especially when he has no faith in what they will decide to charge him when he gets there
  15. I understand what he is saying as well, just giving him a hard time. Jokes aside, even if that setup worked, you would then know how many VA your amplifier can put out into a bucket of concrete. Still wouldn't tell you how many Watts your amplifier puts into your SPEAKERS oh I did miss that part. I don't understand nearly enough about this stuff at this level. I do know I have no reason to know how much power I can put into a concrete bucket!
  16. so I can buy all those tools and a concrete bucket or 1 single tool? geez, tough choice. but I do see that guys point, this isn't the only tool that works. But, I will let him use the concrete bucket...
  17. Yes, but the thing about music is it's dynamic. So even if the peak of the wave is -3db, the average for the song may be -10db. So tuning to -5db could work out. That is why any tool for setting gains are not fool proof, they are tools that help. You still have to use your brain when using your equipment.
