All right, so a friend of mine has an '08 Dodge Avenger, which of course has halogen (9006) bulbs in the low beams. He says he wants HIDs, so I point him to DDM Tuning, cuz I've heard good stuff about them. (also not interested in spending bazillions at 'high end' places) They arrive, and I go ahead and plug them in to the stock harnesses. They work, but the next day he comes back with the passenger side flickering. I switch sides with the ballasts for shits and giggles, and of course the driver's side then starts flickering. Meanwhile, I have an off-brand 5000k kit sitting around, which also happens to be 9006. I replace the DDM ballast and bulb that were flickering with the off-brand and leave the other DDM on the passenger side. Fire up the lights. They go on for about half a second, then nothing. No exterior lights work, engine won't turn over, and a 'no bus' error appears in the screen under the speedo. The fuck?? Running two different HID kits throws out your whole canbus system?! Guy gets back to me, and apparently whoever's repairing it wants $750 incl. labor. REALLY? Edit: the part blown was the integrated power module

Yeah...ASUS Rampage and Maximus boards are ****ing awesome. Obviously you'll have NO problem running crossfire on any X58 board though.

^ That is my humble Antec 900, which I have painted textured black. It's a shame I have to get rid of it somehow, as I'm going MicroATX to make college dorming a little easier with a desktop. Current specs are as follows: Mobo: ASUS P5Q Pro (soon to be a DFI LP P45 JR) CPU: Intel E8500 @ 4.3GHz, 1.26v (453FSBx9.5) RAM: 4GB Corsair Dominator @1086MHz GPU: XFX 8800GTX (w/Acer 22" 1680x1050 LCD) HD 1: 30GB OCZ Core V2 SSD (boot drive) HD 2: 160GB Western Digital (I don't keep as much pr0n as the rest of you) Sound: ASUS Xonar D1 PSU: Silverstone Strider 700W I know it's all yesterday's news, but I still love it and it's fast enough for me. -
Crossfire some 5770s for sure. That is, if you've got the mobo for it.

New desktop build
S15_Silvia replied to Steve01S's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
3.5mm digital output you say? The ASUS Xonar D1 has that....I run one in my desktop and it sounds amazing. Rest of the specs look nice! For the money, you can't beat an AMD quad. -
No. The Alienware of today is nothing like the Alienware of 5+ years ago. www.digitalstormonline.com FTMFW (if you're buying) www.newegg.com (if you wanna build)

Best computer for around $500-$700

Agreed with everyone on here. Building is the way to go if you've got the time to learn it. Even if you don't...just make time or something. I helped another guy on here build his, and he's been having a great time with the system he made. IF you are going to build, before I put a parts list up, I would just say that buying a nice case and a little bigger PSU than you need will let you upgrade for a looong time. -
Like it says in the description, I'm in need of a box design. I was thinking of using this 6" precision port, so that I won't have to worry about the specifics of an L-port, etc. The sub in question is in my sig. It has two spiders, and I was told by Forevrbumpn that the Fs should settle between 32-35Hz after break in. Power will come from a QSC Audio RMX 850 pro amp, so expect RMS to be somewhere around 800W. Because this is NOT going in a vehicle, I do not have any real size limitations, other than that the box needs to fit through a doorway So, let's recap...this box needs the following: -SQ design that won't hesitate to at least hurt my ears (not looking for a numbers box by any means) -I'd prefer if it used aero/precision porting -It'll be made of 3/4" MDF or 1" if I can find it. -RMS power is about 800W. -32-35Hz tuning, probably closer to 32. -No size constraints Whoever wants this job, I will PayPal you the reasonable amount you charge, if you choose to do so.

I was able to finagle an LG EnV 2 replacement out of them...hopefully that thing will work for the time being.

Right now I'm on my third Nokia Intrigue for Verizon, and I couldn't hate the thing more. It's slow, freezes, deletes NEW texts when it receives them sometimes, and has shitty battery life. My contract has another year left, so I'm not about to go pay a fortune for another phone before my upgrade rolls around. People looking to get rid of Verizon phones, show me what you got. Looking to spend $100 or less, and full-keyboard phones are preferable but not required. Thanks guys

Not a fan of the GTS250...Nvidia is guilty of re-badging old cards and marketing them as if they were new. GTS250 is a re-badged 9800GTX+, which is a couple-year-old card. -

how to instal a driver??
S15_Silvia replied to 99GPGTX's topic in Computer Talk - News, technology, advice
With optical drives, the problem is gonna more likely than not be hardware related. Windows shouldn't need user-installed drivers for it to work. Just check the cables...if they're fine, the drive *may* be shot. -

I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive pair of powered studio monitors or speakers...stuff by M-Audio, etc. They'll be part of a hybrid home/car audio setup I'm putting together in my room. Show me what ya got!
