Go ported. The box will be in the trunk, ported or sealed, so if you want it loud go ported ! No matter if your seats are down or not !

The sub is rated at 1200 watts rms, so you should stick with that, or a little more, for the amplifier. Get a Sundown 1500 at db-r and you will be good to go !

no smell fom my car at all, and I live in a hot caribbean island : Martinique !! I have Damplifier pro in my front doors and Damplifier in the trunk and trunk lid. I have a layer of Fatmat under the Damplifier in the trunk (was smelling hard the first week !).

You bought it in August? It should be a gen 2 Btl, not the just released UFO style BTL N2.

If you're only looking for db numbers, you can tune your box high. but for music listenings, I would tune to 30-33 Hz, not higher. Just my 2cents!

It's the remote wire that "tells" your amp to work when you turn your head unit on. It's not remote like remote bass knob ! just my 2 cts, as I'm not an expert !

There's something I don't understand. The OP said he was looking for 2 12" or 1 15". The title says $800 for a sub, not for sub AND amp. And he has all the electrical upgrades. I have vision problems, or what ?!!! Just for example, OP, you can have 2 Bls or even Btls with $800 (for the BTL you will need to add shipping charges to your budget). The choice is huge!!! If you uncompress an mp3 file, you will never go back to the original sound of the cd. Even on rap you can listen to the difference. I use mp3 files on burnt cds, but I must admit that an original cd will give you the best quality. I still buy some cd from time to time !

What kind of box do you have ? Maybe it is too big ? I switched mine too :I had a 3.5 ft3 L ported box for my SSA Xcon, and it was taking all my cargo area. Now I have a 3.1 ft3 ported box with 2 x 4" aeroports(flared), and now it sounds much better, takes less room, and it's even louder (port is firing to the side, instead of firing up). I would not put a BTL in a sealed box. You can get it rebuild to a 12" , so that you can use a smaller box. Good luck !

You think the smd will not receive enough juice with this 4000 watts amp. Why ? I thought this sub would love such an amp. You can do 2 DC level 4 xl. But I would not try to run the level 5. Good luck

You may want to use pvc pipe, because I don't know if you can find 22" ports. Just get the flared ends and the ring connectors. Take a look at Madisound too : I bought my 2 4" aeros (psp) ports from them. They are sooo fast, they answered to all my emails like I was the only customer they have !!! Great customer service ! and Yes flared aero ports do sound good. You'll love them !

2 duals 4 : yes you can wire them to 1 ohm for your amp. Look for an amp that can give you about 1000 watts rms at 1 ohm. The Kenwood is not the best solution : not really stable at 1 ohm ! even if they tell you it is 1 ohm stable !!! Sundown YES, Audioque maybe, Audiopipe why not (the cheapest). You can find some cheap Clarion too !

take a look at sounddeadenershowdown.com and talk to Don : he's a cool guy, very very knowledgeable on deadening. He has tested quite all the different products on the market, and now make his own. Good price too. But Secondskin is really good; easy to apply, no smell, and hold for long !

Google "sound deadener showdown" : very good quality, not too expensive. or Secondskin Damplifier, better and cheaper than Dynamat. You don't need to cover all your car up. forget that Fatmat thing : it stinks for long, it's asphalt. Cheap but not a good idea. Maybe you can try a phone cable splitter (or something like that) to run 2 remotes on the same knob. But the idea of selling the 500/1 to get a single bigger amp is not bad. Get the other 500/1 if you have a fantastic deal on them. Good luck !

:lol: He said "SQL" no SQ ! He's ceratinly looking for loud. Coming from an Alpine Type X, he will love a BL 12" in the right box. I say 12" because of the space requirement. I thought 1400 watts were too much for an SSD, I must be wrong !!! did not checked the different options.

I'd get a BL or a BTL with that much power, and a good custom box !
