Dual set up is a lot easier than a single alt on stock electrical. Have one atl (stock) for your 12V side to power your vehicle. Then have the other alt to power your 16V side charging in the 19.2V range. Only thing that will get the 16V side power will be your amps for the subs. If you have a big enough battery bank, then one alt will work fine for you. Do yourself a favor and get a good 16V charger as well. If you are going to have a large bank of batteries then go with the 1005 model.

1200 will work fine as a starting battery. 2500 and 3000 are not for starting applications.

Yes, if you have a lot of heat while pushing the battery to its limits that can create swelling. With the heat you are producing it make actually be better for you to relocate the battery to the back of the vehicle if it is possible. You definitely want to use something to block all the heat from the battery if you do leave the battery under the hood.

There are a lot of threads on the forum that goes over the differences, but I will give you the short and sweet answer. Virgin lead with lead-tin technology. Lead-tin technology allows us to use much thinner plates, which also allows us to put more lead into the battery. The thinner the plates the faster the battery can recover when the load is off of the battery. Also we use larger and high quality inter-cell connectors (the busing system that connects the cells together), which allows the discharge rate to be faster. So in short it is the higher quality internals that are used that really makes the difference.

That isn't swollen. That is just the way batteries are.

Give us a call and we can set up a return on the battery. Until we get it in here we can not determine if it is a manufacturing issue (which does happen with anything) or an overcharging issue. For a battery to swell up like that and do it that quickly it sounds like your alt is probably charging higher than 14.4V. I would def check the charge voltage at the alt.

People install them inside the vehicles all the time. Makes it much easier IMHO.

If you are only dropping to 13.2V, then you are dropping to battery voltage now. You will not see any higher voltage by changing out to the D1200, but you would see more instantaneous power. In the end you probably wouldn't notice a difference on a daily driver, so I would just wait till you start having issues with the battery.

That is a group 47 battery, and we do not have a direct fit replacement for that battery. Probably could get the D or S3400 to fit, but you would want to check to make sure it will work for you.

Yes put some larger wire in there with good grounds and connections. Your vehicle was wired for everything that came on the vehicle stock, and nothing more. You are pulling a lot of power for the full length of the vehicle, so you need as little resistance as possible. What size yellow top do you currently have?

That charger wouldn't take to long to charge up a small D680. You could put it on there to top off the battery. If the battery is at 12.6 or higher you can put it in the vehicle, but it is always better to top it off first. What vehicle are you using the 680 in for a starting battery?

Upgrade your wiring and upgrade your battery. Try to find someone you don't like and sell them the cap.

D6500 under the hood and you should be good. Get part # 580 if you are still going to run automotive posts.
