Did a little rewire today, I was planning on getting to my enclosure today but the wiring took all damn day. I get off work tomorrow at 5pm so hopefully I'll be able to get some work done on the box. I was able to fit 2 yellow tops in the spot where my stock battery originally, made my own fuse holder also made a bracket for my fuse from my alt. So sorry for the blurry pic but my wife has the good camera in the Bahamas and she won't be back for 5 more days.

Speaker Wire & Power wire. . .
larrys95civic replied to Mikey Bates's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
I always keep them separate, but I really hate getting something done then ripping it back out to fix it correctly. -
I am not running two amps. This is just a question for example Amp 1 : 4000 rms @ 1 ohm 2000 rms @ 2ohm Amp 2 : 4000 rms @ 1 ohm 3000 rms @ 2 ohm What makes amp 2 put out more power at 2 ohm. Ahhh ok I'm sorry I was thinking you had this issue in your current build. Now that I understand the question better, I would agree with skittles. But I'm pretty sure some companies idea of power is different then some others.

Know your resources! Don't be afraid to google something or go to the manufacturers website. And please if your messing with power wires don't fucking tape up the ends unhook the battery for gods sake. I would fire you on the spot for something like that. But then of course I got laid off a month ago lol. Oh and be clean, I would never have let a installer into a customers car if he was all dirty or smelled like smoke. just my 2 cents, good luck!

Need a couple opinions, here is my dilemma. I can either run 2 1200.1's strapped at 2ohm daily .5 for comp, or 4 1000.1's at 2 Ohms each coil since they aren't strappable. I already have a maxx-link (I know they have issues). Please chime in guys as I do value your opinions, I think I keep going back to the 1200.1's out of laziness for building my amp rack since it's going to be mostly fiberglass.

So, I'm sitting around the garage today trying to figure out a cool way do my rear doors and I get a phone call. Buddy of mine who owns a local shop is doing some spring cleaning and has a couple items I might be interested in. So after some negotiations I once again am the proud owner of another set of DD 9518's LOL. It's funny the way things work out sometimes. But now I'm thinking just a sub up port back build again instead of the wall. I haven't even cleaned them up yet.

Well I learned my lesson, and I have just given a ton of shit or fuck even bought stuff for people. I have even ordered stuff for people on SMD who were struggling with their builds just so they could enjoy the sport as much as I do. Well thats all fucked up now, only takes 1 asshole to ruin the party for everyone. yeah I hear ya, well I hope the best for you. I love the vents, kinda reminds me of the stock newer explorer/expedition vents. I'm definitely tuned in Thanks man, soon as I regroup my thoughts I might start working on it again. I need to figure out an entire new subwoofer plan now, I think I'll just end up ordering 4 more 10's.

Well I was pretty excited about my build, was going to take a different route and go with 2 18's. Damn I had everything lined up, guy was trading me 12 of my 10's for 2 18's. Spent hours on the phone with this dude texting back and forth, 30 minutes worth of digging through my other audio stuff and making a list for him in case he needed something else and we finally made the deal just had to work out a day to get together for the actual trade of the equipment. Also I have had a guy who has hounded me about my DD 9518's for a while so with a new set on it's way I called and sold them to him, while he was at my house he bought my last 4 of the tens for his other vehicle. Things couldn't have been going smoother, I head off to work with a giant smile knowing I would soon have my new 18's and was working on my new enclosure in my head when I get the fucking text - Dude I sold those subs local. FUCK!!!!! I totally fucked myself by selling off my other 18's and 4 of the tens for a 16 tens build. So now my only fucking choice is buy 4 more tens at over 20 bucks more then I sold them for each, or try and sell the last 12 and buy me a new set of 18's or just fucking throw in the towel. Now I remember why I always just held on to my old gear, people fucking suck and will fuck you over for a few bucks........ /rant off

Wood as an Isolator?
larrys95civic replied to Amart88's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
I use rubber faucet washer from any hardware store, as long as the wood has been kiln dried and isn't wet you should be fine. If you want you can get a sheet of ABS plastic for like 8 bucks and cut it to fit under the bar completely then do like CJ18 suggested and over size the hole and put a rubber washer between the screw and the aluminum. -
Battery Under hood or In Trunk?
larrys95civic replied to CanUFeelMe's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
People run rear battery only in hot rod and race car type applications all the time, the battery getting good current is more dependent on run large enough wire fom up front to that. I run a rear mounted battery in my Trans Am and have never had an issue. Places like Summit sell kits specifically for relocating your battery to the trunk. I run a rear batt in my drag truck but it's not being beat on by thousands of watts constantly. -
Battery Under hood or In Trunk?
larrys95civic replied to CanUFeelMe's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
My concern with it being in the back and only running 1 battery is it being so far away from the alt, I'm not sure you would get a steady flow to the batt. I'm thinking your amps would discharge your batt faster then it could charge being so far away. I could be wrong I have been drinking with my wife since 6 LOL. -
I know you probably have check the subs to see if you got the correct coils, I had 2 of my 16 subs show up and it had dual 4's the rest were dual 2's.

LOL it's cool, well now you can buy mine . My wife has to work tomorrow so I guess I'll start my wall - I'm going with the 16 10's but I'm going to make the front of my box removable and I'm going to build a front for the 2 9518 DD's at some point. Gives me a reason not to sell them lol. And no comments about replacing my vents? Damn that took a ton of work.
