I hate english sometimes, how come "Bass" is pronounced "beis" but celtics player Brand Bass is pronounced "bas"???

hahahaha thanks a lot guys, it means a lot to me, believe it or not, i NEVER took any english course, i learned by watching TV mostly, BUT, i have to tell you this, my english got WAYYY better as soon as i started posting and reading at SMD, so, thanks a lot to all of you guys, because i´ve learned more things that i could imagine on this forum
