  3. We heard you were fans of B-Stock Damplifier Pro, so we went ahead and gathered all of the odd-shaped pieces we could find and put them in 40+lbs boxes and put them on our website so you can buy them. If you missed your last chance to get your hands on some seriously discounted, seriously excellent sound deadener, don't miss this one because quantities are seriously limited. Check it out here in our store

  5. Fun fact while we are on the movie subject; Damplifier Pro is used on a lot of movie sets to help reduce resonance during production in order to save time when it comes to editing!
  6. Second Skin Audio may be making a brief appearance in Iron Man 3! We were contacted by them about a year ago asking for permission to use our name and logo, and we gave them the go ahead, so if you plan on seeing the movie, keep an eye out for us! Iron Man 3 premiers this Friday, May 3rd(My birthday!) Max
  7. Damplifier and Damplifier Pro will stick to most surfaces, but when it comes to an already applied coating it depends entirely on the coating's formula. Since there's really no way to know the coating's formula(at least no easy way) I recommend putting a small piece of something adhesive(some kind of tape would work best) on the already applied stuff and checking in a day to see if the adhesives seem weakened. If yes, then definitely avoid putting Damplifier or Damplifier Pro on it, but if the tape is still stuck as well as it was when you first applied it, Damplifier and Damplifier Pro will stick fine!
  8. B-Stock Damplifier Pro Is back! B-Stock Damplifier and Damplifier Pro are just like their A-stock counterparts, except the thickness varies +/-25%, and the foil tends to be a little scratched and dented. It may not be as pretty as A-Stock Damplifier Pro, but man is it effective, and if you're on a budget there's really nothing better! Check out the products on their specific product pages: B-Stock Pro Bulk Pack - 30SqFt B-Stock Pro Shop Pack - 90SqFt The B-Stock is a byproduct of the manufacturing process of the A-Stock, so once it's gone it's gone until we reorder A-Stock Damplifier Pro. Don't miss out on this, if you're in the market for sound deadening, this is the best deal you'll find pretty much anywhere.

  18. hm... maybe some closed celled foam on the parts where the lid closes? that could cut out the wiggle room that causes the latch to rattle
  19. Definitely let it dry out first. If the paper backing is still firmly stuck to the butyl rubber, that's a good sign. once it's dry, peel back a corner of the paper and test the stickiness of the butyl. if it's still sticks, it'll work fine. I know Damplifier is very water resistant, but this will probably be the ultimate test haha.
  20. Technically with many quality 80mil deadeners you dont need full coverage. Second Skin Damp Pro, AudioTechnix, Dynamat Extreme, Stinger RoadKill, all these will be fine with partial coverage, however people like over kill, thats the name of this game we play called car audio. Why have 12inch subs when you can have 18inch subs? Overkill! LoL Typically alone sound deadener is not going to stop most rattles caused, If your very limited on deadener right now, such as 20sq feet. My goal would be using it in your front doors, doing the actual inside metal of your doors outer door skin, as well as the inner bracing that your door panel bolts onto. Especially if you have some kick ass door pods or some very nice components in the front door. Get full coverage on those 2 front doors, than you never have to pull panels again to do more later down the road. If you just have some stock speakers or coaxles, go for your trunk and use the deadener there, until you have more money to buy more and do your doors. Doors are definitely the first place you want to cover, they're a huge spot for interference(both from soundwaves from your speakers firing backwards into the door, and road noise). We usually recomend 50%-75% coverage on any pannel, particularly large metal ones, as these tend to be the points of diminishing return, at least for SQ builds. if you're going for SPL, then it's a good idea to think about 100% coverage and even double layering, especially if you're trying to cause earthquakes. Max
  21. Thanks for the great tour Steve and Sue's awesome new hair do! Really enjoyed meeting you and checking out the Lexus and Tahoe. Very cool! Ken
  22. Both Damplifier and Damplifier Pro are easy to work with. Damplifier Pro is more effective since it has thicker butyl. Damplifier is lighter tho.
  23. Hello to all! I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who has bought from us, is thinking about buying from us, participates on our forum, has helped someone with questions, and in general I just want to thank everyone who has been making this online community great(i.e. everyone on this forum!). I also want to thank our rep Jon, who has been here through thick and thin to offer advice and answer any questions you may have. to reiterate: thanks to everyone, you're awesome Ken Owner Second Skin Audio
  24. AlphaDamp has 10 mil silver foil and has a total thickness of 1.5 mm. Damplifier Pro has 6.5 mil black foil and has a total thickness of 2 mm. The thicker foil on the AlphaDamp provides a stronger constraint layer, while the Damplifier Pro offers more flexibility and greater insulation.
