  1. We have started the next run with modified coil and gap spec that should increase QC pass rate after analyzing the QC failed units from the first production run. Production cycle should be closer to the normal ~90 days from now.
  2. Each model costs less per watt on 12v than prior models. As our overall business has shifted more towards sales via B&M shops an increasingly smaller percentage of customers need high voltage stability. In the previous generation even the SAZ-1200D was stable to 19v -- it's been cut down to 15.5v on all SCV models; also the SAX-150.4 is capped at 15.5v where the 125.4 model ran to 19v as well. This, again, allows more wattage per dollar and per size than previous generation models. The NS-1 is also on it's last production cycle along with the SAZ-5000D; we will introduce and SCV-6000D in place of those two models. Dyno results and clamps tests forthcoming on that one as well. We may consider a large "NS" model amplifier again down the line but we have currently shifted all amplifier models to more dealer friendly 12v versions.
  3. Sent these off to someone to Dyno them for us -- at some point we'll have our own Dyno to do all sorts of more specific testing but this is what I have right now. Obviously the Dyno figures @ 1% are alot lower than what you see with a clamp test -- but all amps are on par or above par. We will also do some of our own clamp testing down the line that is easier to compare to older results from prior models since Dyno cannot be directly compared to clamp results. SCV-1500D : SCV-2000D: SCV-3000D: SCV-4000D:
  4. Real name please; I will announce the raffle winner in all the threads and on Facebook as well.
  5. The inverted surround is purely for reduce front mounting depth. We went rubber to reduce FS via a bit more mass and more compliance (softer).
  6. I am quite pleased with the 10" model -- we fired one up on Friday with what I believe will be the production suspension in a test box in a vehicle (CRX was test vehicle). Tons of bottom-end and extremely clean and tight bass reproduction. Our box was about 0.6 before displacement; I want to try a bit smaller. We tested everything from rap music to Mudvayne on it These are a driver with a hard limit -- something to keep in mind. As both an under-hung and relatively shallow design there isn't much excess clearance so things can bottom out. It takes quite a bit based on my test (we had an NS-1 on it as it was already installed in the test vehicle). It is very low distortion up until hard bottom. It looks like we will end up with different motors on each size; 8, 10, 12 all with different motors. The specs on the 10" ended up great with the 190mm OD motor, but it won't cut it for the 12" so we'll probably use the 220mm OD motor. So obviously pricing will reflect this; I am still working on the final pricing and will announce when I have it -- but I feel like they will be worth every penny for small, sealed box, high fidelity applications.
  7. This runs until September 19th 2014 -- we will do the drawing on the 20th. Anyone that donates to the MS ride fundraiser will be eligible for a drawing to win a stereo package : 2x Obsidian Audio 10" D4 1x Sundown SCV-1500D Amplifier The donation page is here : Bike MS: Cox Atlanta Ride 2014: Ms. Terri Louise Latimer - National MS Society Our friend Terri is doing her annual ride and that is her donation page -- when you donate write your name and "Sundown" next to it -- as we will use the names from the "Donor Honor Roll" to do the drawing. You must have YOUR name AND "Sundown" to qualify for the drawing. Every $5 donated gives you 1 entry in the drawing. You can get as many entries as you like based on how big your donation is. Many of your are familiar with Nick Lemons -- the owner / founder of Stereo Integrity and Obsidian Audio -- he's been a friend of mine since college and was diagnosed with MS several years ago. We have donated and taken part in this for the previous two years; this is our third year taking part.

  10. To order a drop-in re-cone assembly e-mail [email protected] -- do not e-mail my "sundownz" address if you need a quick response. To reduce back-and-forth e-mails ALWAYS include the following : 1) What you are ordering -- Model, Coil Configuration, Etc. 2) If you already have a basket or not; please check below for any special notes. 3) If you need ANY custom options please specify up front. 4) !!! YOUR ADDRESS AND NAME !!! 5) A picture of what you have goes a long way to be SURE we are talking about the same thing. 6) When you send payment include ALL details of your drop-in on the notes(model, size, coil configuration, options, etc) IT WILL TAKE, ON AVERAGE, 3-4 weeks for a built item like a drop-in to be completed. It may take longer depending on how busy our build department is -- please keep this in mind. Updates will NOT be sent along the way -- an update will occur when the product is shipped. You can e-mail us to check on the status; [email protected]; an exact completion time is not available but we can confirm if it is done, in process, or is in the shipping area. These are fully BUILT real "drop-in" assemblies -- you shim them out, glue them in, and attach a dust cap so there is a bit of a lead time. We do not ship out a box of loose parts! Thanks for your patience . ---------- Update (8-26-14) : There are a few guy out there that can build our drop-ins (OEM style or customized) as they are authorized to buy our parts if you are in a hurry and our lead time is too long -- you must order through them and do all contact / follow-up with them. Doing business with any of the following builders is completely separate from doing business direct with us and their pricing may vary from ours; but I can say we have done business with all of these guys for many years now and we are comfortable with their work. They all have good feedback on the forums as well : David Moore ("TeamPSI" on CACO) -- Mississippi -- Info @ FixMySpeaker.com Thomas Moen ("iamsonic" on CACO) -- Iowa -- moenthomasr @ yahoo.com Corey Dean ("SPLaudio" on Forums) -- New York -- splaudio78 @ hotmail.com David Leib ("FLAstrongman" on CACO) -- Florida -- flastrongman @ gmail.com ---------- EDIT 8/30/11 : WE CANNOT WARRANTY DIY RE-CONE ASSEMBLY ISSUES. Read and understand this -- if you are not 110% sure about re-coning the driver ask us or send it in. We can ONLY stand behind labor that we perform. Manufacturing defects in the kit itself are of course our responsibility but installation is 100% the customer responsibility. This includes ticking, broken parts, etc. EDIT 10/14/13 : MAKE SURE to check your re-cone BEFORE installing it for complete accuracy. This includes using a DMM to make sure you received the correct voice coil configuration. As this is a DIY process everyone performing a drop-in should have access to a multi-meter. If there is a mistake on the kit we need to know BEFORE you glue it all in place!!! Once the kit is glued into place we will not be be liable for any errors in it's construction. CHECK IT OVER FIRST. If it is not correct we will issue a call tag for it and build you the correct kit for you ASAP. Also... any CHANGES to a drop-in order must be done in the form of a new order. We will no longer CHANGE an existing drop-in order without refunding the original payment and creating an entirely new order so that ALL of your details are IN WRITING on the payment slip from Paypal. There will be absolutely NO changes to drop-in orders on the phone!!! Changing existing orders and making any adjustments on the phone open up too many possibilities for errors. ---------- This thread over-rides any prior quotes or costs. These prices are the same for everyone; Team, dealer, customer, etc. All costs + SH charges. ---------- KITS DO NOT include shims or glue. White paper trimmed / stacked to spec works perfectly for shimming -- use enough where it is snug but not so tight you can barely get the coil in the gap. For glue we suggest Loc-Tite 5-minute epoxy with mixing tubesto glue the spider to the frame (MAKE SURE to sand it first) and we suggest Amazing Goop or E6000 for the surround and dust cap (sand frame for surround and rough up the glue surface of the dust cap with sand paper as well). These can be purchased from Lowes or Home Depot very commonly and some Wal-Mart and Craft Stores. We can sell CA glue by request but it typically is not very cost effective for the end user. Most kits DO NOT include the solder tabs that attach to the terminals; these should be RE-USED. Simply cut off any heat-shrink (if present) and de-solder the old lead wire from the tab. Make sure the terminal post is still tight; and then re-solder the new lead to the tab. If you require new tabs you will need to order a complete terminal to get them. ---------- The frame price comes with gasket and terminals -- but if you need any plastic spacers those are extra and you must request them. ---------- MODEL -- RE-CONE Price -- FRAME Price E8 v.2 (or v.1) -- $28.00 -- $5.00 * D2 / D4 available Stock * MUST buy basket to re-cone a v.1 model E8 v.3 -- $30.00 -- $5.00 * D2 / D4 Available E-10 -- $35 -- $10 E-12 -- $35 -- $10 E-15 -- $45 -- $10 * D2 / D4 Available !!!FOR SA-8 KITS SEE THIS THREAD TO DETERMINE WHAT MODEL YOU HAVE. IMPORTANT NOTE : YOU MUST USE OUR NEWEST 12-spoke 15" FRAMES TO USE THE Z v.3, v.4, X OR NS v.3 SPIDER PACKS !!!! They are 8 3/8" spiders and require a modified top landing. The other spiders for 10/12 and the 18 are compatible with any 12-spoke / 6-spoke that I am aware of. Also -- the NS cone will NOT be offered on ANY drivers with a v.3 style spider pack in 15s or 18s. The v.3 spiders (Z v.3 and NS v.3) can exceed the mechanical limits of the NS style cones in these sizes
  11. PS : The Bill of Lading for the pallet was dispatched today (eg -- return shipping label); and the build staff is working on the driver as well.
  12. I'm not sure who told you that anyone is being billed for SH charges but they are not; the only hold-up is to get the FedEx pickup scheduled to bring it back here via freight. A normal "call tag" by small package is very simple -- doing so for a pallet is not supported directly by the software so the guys have been on the phone with FedEx several times to get it scheduled and rather than wait for it to come back the build staff is also building a completely new unit to send back out. The driver was a rush build due to the prior unit being damaged in transit and was shipped the same-day; normally we ship next day and it goes through a suite of QC checks after the glue dries overnight. Due to the rush it didn't go through the checks -- obviously that is not an ideal or acceptable situation and should never happen; I've met with everyone about it to express my disapproval for that result. Therefore; the new unit will be built, dried overnight, then fully QC inspected, before going out. I also told the office staff to let you know that I am offering to re-build your drivers with the newly tooled frames and soft parts when they are completed at no charge to help make up for the issue. Not sure if that has made it through the pipeline to you yet. The new 18" frame is in the tooling process and we'll be in touch about that when available.
  13. Correct. It's simply too heavy for me to even consider shipping it with the 18" 6-spoke frame. I have already advised everyone with even an NS v.3 18" to brace the motor. I've started tooling on our 18" frame... so perhaps by years or first of 2015 we'll have some.
  14. I read something on your facebook that all Zv4s are made in house now. So does that mean it won't have a bolted surround? I'm ordering it through SSA if that makes any difference. Thanks for the reply. All Z v.4s that are not still IN STOCK from factory units are being built here by hand; there are still some factory units out there in stock at dealers and in our warehouse. All of which should be the bolted-on units by now. But if we build it it doesn't have the bolt-on clips as it doesn't need it. They are added to factory units as an added measure of security as the factory glues are not the same as ours.
  15. Factory produced units have a bolted surround. Units made here are glued but have worked out several methods quite a while ago to get them to adhere with no problem.
  16. I have yet to see a hole as indicated in the photos in a product that has passed through our QC process; so we would definitely need to examine it closely. We also HAVE had several instances in the past with reported holes for "warranty" that, upon examination, have been clearly caused by the end-users drill, screw-driver, smacking the trunk after mounting, etc. Therefore; these cases must all be treated the same and we must see the driver to move forward.
  17. Actually you were issued an RMA # to send it in for examination; we cannot make a decision without seeing the product.
  18. There is a 30-day warranty provided by Car Audio Bargain. Typically you will see things like messed up dust cap glue, excess glue drips on the driver, motor finish defects, etc.
  19. I am back as of last night around midnight -- huge jet-lag but made it in today to get started getting back up to speed.
  20. They actually play FLAT to even ~80 Hz or so -- but they do not exaggerate the top-end over stroke.
