Anyone else's voice coils black on their level 5? Mine were like that out of the box. Note that the sub hasn't seen anything over 1000 watts yet and both coils read what they are supposed to on the DMM It's my first DC sub, so I don't really know what's normal and what isn't

Well, I am going to redo my box in a couple days (Problably Monday) - make it smaller/raise tuning, and run gobs more power to my new sub. I just want to have some fun with lows before I do so. Not sure about your particular crossover, but mine made the amp see 4.6 ohms of resistance with 2 4 ohm speakers (not really sure how that works) although yours might be different Why not just used the crossovers on the amp?

Swap out to a 15 inch basket and get a recone kit for that. Edit: Ninja'd

Contact Kicker and ask if they can get you a recone kit

Send both sundown and kicker asking about coil wind height, spider size, coil inner diameter, outer diameter etc and see how similar/different they are. I'm not sure how good it will turn out though. I would just assume get an actual SA-12
