  1. Even with the DAD BD 12s which had an fs of 28hz still sounded mechanical at 21hz, specifically with the song I Cook ( Mega Screwed by Big Pimpin )...These subs do not produce that same sound on the same song... Like I stated above - I just can't get over that I am now able to play this low...previously bottoming out was something you needed to be careful of when playing the low stuff (below 25hz)....not anymore, these subs have more than enough throw to get the job done! I can't imagine what builds are gonna be like in the future with these things....especially with the 15's and 18's
  2. Song was BME click - Lil' Jon (Big pimpin version) & Throw it up (slowed down 35%).... These subs absolutely murder any frequency...even sound pretty darn good on the higher stuff...I am still a little gun shy on the low low stuff (below 20hz stuff) but I have no reason to be, the subs handle it like a champ...I am just used to typical subs not made for the low end (: Will make some vids today!! On a side note we actually broke part of the port inside the enclosure from the all thread (these subs are very destructive so brace accordingly), my poor hatch is begging for mercy...might be time to wall this thing... (;
  3. More pics and vids on the way! Everyone that heard them at the show was VERY impressed.....They did a 147.1db at 31hz at the headrest. drivers door open yesterday MECA style... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxdAeXvMyRA
  4. Subs will be here tomorrow (: hehe https://www.fedex.com/fedextrack/?cntry_code=us&tab=1&tracknums=951531660511971&clienttype=ivother
  5. Just because you tune your enclosure to 28hz doesn't mean you are going to lose 35hz+ frequencies.... And you can put any subwoofer in any tuned enclosure you want to...but some subs certainly respond better in a particular tuned enclosure than others...For example these skar vvx subs, they excel in low tune enclosures whereas they probably wouldn't do so well on 50hz+ burps
  6. Whats wrong with my recommendation? Have you had a bad experience with running at 0.5 daily that you now won't recommend it? Just curious
  7. You never suggest to run 0.5 ohm daily? That's what he said.. Never had a single issue running 0.5 ohm daily on any of my amps... To the OP: If you are going to run below 1 ohm I would suggest the big 3 in 1/0 ofc with at least one run of 1/0 ofc to the back and a beefy AGM battery (XS power D3100)...If you do that you will be golden...otherwise you may risk ruining your amplifier.
  8. weak sauce sub.....jk Nice sub brah...now get you rump in gear and pick up an IM-SG1 you nuthugger!! (:
  9. Approximately 31mm xmax - one way (xmech is prob quite a bit more)....31mm doesn't sound like much but Jacob stated that most manufacturers xmax ratings arn't accurate because they arn't klippel verified, so 31mm klippel verified xmax is quite a bit more than most other drivers out there. I thought the xmax was 50mm .. damn that's not a improvement over what I have now.. 28m one way Yeah you're right, these new high excursion lines of sundown subs arn't much of an improvement over the fi q line of subs.....
  10. That's a tough one to answer. The X-max of a dick through a screen would depend upon many variables. We need klippel to test this......

  12. Should get lots of vids (: This enclosure puts a lot of pressure on the ear drums....should see a few tap outs (:
  13. Subs were built yesterday (06/25), will be shipping today (06/26)....Should have em by Friday or worst case scenario Sat for the show on sunday.....Not sure if mentioned but the subs will be inverted on the front baffle, so im gonna drive a nice fat all thread front to back through the enclosure (;
  14. I'm definitely down for two or four of these when they come out for my test bench speaker build (: Thinking two towers with two per side in a vertical array...definitely tuned in for these drivers (:
  15. How is 26-27hz low 20's? I am against tuning in the low 20's too, but 26-27hz is reasonable whereas low 20's is not reasonable...
  16. My enclosure for a pair of 12s is 5.0 cubic feet net (after all displacements). It plays very flat and has no problem smashing lows with pretty much any subs I put in there....I would personally aim for 7.0 cubes net for the pair of vvx 15's....Tune to 32hz and call it a day...if you arn't concerned with with upper end so much don't be afraid to tune to 26-27... My enclosure as stated above is tuned to 26hz and it sounds great and has a nice flat response, it pushes a nice amount of air too (;
  17. Will do mang! Can't wait to get some low fs subs back in there.... I may have a few laying around....gotta dig for them but will post up....the pictures of the enclosure ^^^ was before it was butched by the temporary owner...The enclosure is now stripped of all the carpet and prepared for a makeover.
  18. Pic of the enclosure with the DAD BD 12's Pic of the enclosure with the Pierce audio 1k 12's As you can see it's a big ol' bish...x 12's should be in heaven haha
  19. There is a local show coming up for me on June 30th in PA...12v thunder hosted by 12v Dave... I had a box built a while back for two DAD bd 12's (fs of 28hz) (I wanted an enclosure that complimented the low end)..The enclosure ended up being 5.0 cubic feet after displacements tuned to 26hz (confirmed with an IM-SG1). The original build was this enclosure with the two DAD bd 12's on their own Skar audio 1500's at 1 ohm...It played VERY flat with a peak of 145.5 db at 31-33hz with the mic on the dash and driver side door open (termlab) and also a 137.7db at 17hz....I also clamped 1800 watts coming from the pair of 1500's... I had purchased four powerbass XTA 6000D's just for the hell of it and out of curiousity put one on the two DAD bd 12's at 0.5 ohms....Sounded to me like a 150+ at around 30hz...although the drivers didn't last long on that power (DAD bd's have two spiders total and are spaced apart...Here is a video of what it did on the 6k though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUHmK_1ZTXQ A few months back I picked up a pair of Pierce Audio 1k 12's (fs of 37hz) for a client who wanted a build....I tossed em in this enclosure on a rockford 1500 bcp at 1 ohm just to break them in and did a 144.8 at 31-33hz on music (mic was in the same confirguarion as last time). The Pierces sounded good in this enclosure but definitely lacked the low end performance that the DAD's had....I wanted to demonstrate what two 12's can do at 20-30hz in the proper enclosure at this upcoming show, but the current subs wern't gonna cut it.. So I did a little bit of digging and ended up talking to Bryan Chamberlein from Sundown and told me had a pair of sundown X 12's that were there chilling at Sundown HQ and had some coil rub from testing. He agreed that he would recone them both for me with production soft parts and a deal was made. I am the proud owner of a pair of Sundown X 12's, he told me I will have em' before the show so now I just need to play the waiting game... The enclosure was temporarily sold in between set ups and was butched by the temporary owner and I bought it back from him at a reduced price...The enclosure is going to get a makeover and some threaded rod to add some support because I am going to invert the subs which will put quite a bit of weight on the front baffle (front baffle is a doubled up with 3/4" mdf too). The set up will be the pair of x 12's (dual 2 ohm coils) each wired to their own rf 1500 bdcp at 1 ohm. I am very excited to see this enclosure sounds with a pair of subs that are made for low end extension. Sorry about the rant, will upload pics and vids as stuff comes along. The enlcosure needs quite a bit of work done on it so posting this will give me some motivation to get work done (;
