    my most recent box was tuned to 35Hz and it sounds pretty damn good to me. I just wish I had more power and more subs

    Thanks everyone, this was helpful. I know some prefab boxes (which I don't use) are tuned to greater than 40Hz and I wasn't sure if this kid wants prefab quality or home built quality. I'll probably just tune it to 33Hz if you say so. lol.... 28Hz. I don't think that 600wrms in a box like that would push much hahaha

    So I'm putting together a system for a buddy of mine, He has a ford focus... I think 2009? So far he will be getting 2 Sundown E-10D4 and everything will be wired down to 1ohm and will be getting anywhere from 600-800wrms, but most likely 600wrms to avoid voltage drop on a stock electrical system. The box will hold those 2 10's with the port on one side of the box firing towards the back of the trunk. This is where I need help from the guys and gals on SMD.... He just wants something that slams as a daily driver... no competing with tones or playing chopped or screwed music. What do you think would be a good frequency to tune the box for most music? This will only be my second box btw

    thanks I will have to ply around with google a bit. I'm about to watch tutorial videos on it now. Going from expensive software with unlimited tools to some free software with not so many features can be difficult. good luck

    Okay, so I know this is tricky, but I'm a mechanical engineer so I have used programs such as Pro/Engineer and I just learned Inventor at my new job Google sketchup is free, It's ironic because I use 3D modeling all the time, but I can't figure out google sketchup yet lol. I was just browsing and I saw that 123D is free software from Autodesk (makers of inventor)

    sundown FTMFW, the SA series are rated at 600wrmslol. I have not heard any DC level 3's but I have heard from other people that the SA series can take more power than the level 3 line even though both say they're rated at 600wrms. just my 2 cents on what I know about those sub lines that you listed

    I'm just being supportive and hopeful here. It looks like a good idea in the making if you have a resources to get it done (unlike me). I'm not so sure one getting other members to design his box though :/ I think that's all a part of the learning experience and it makes your build mean more to the one who designed and built it. I mainly want help with the port i know what the design is going to be how many cubes, baffle design, etc.. is. Ive built multiple boxes but not one like my design. why don't you make a 3D model of your design and show us what you were thinking of doing? I'm currently working on a couple boxes for other people along with a box for myself in future builds

    Did you see the box he wants? It's for a PAIR of sa-12s lol I clearly missed that, In that case it seems like just enough net volume the title threw me off, SA-12 was singular and not plural but I should have clicked on that link

    picssssssss, Have you ever used torres box calculator?

    sundown recommends 1.5-2ft^3 net volume. I mean this might work for a 15 (I think 2-3ft^3 net volume) but this is unnecessary for a single 12. Just mess around on torres calculator until you can get the net volume in the right range, as well as the frequency that you want.

    ^This as a quick inexpensive solution but if you would like to do it right then adding a component set (separate tweeter and mid) and a mid bass would be a better route. You would need an electronic crossover or an amp that is active capable to achieve your goal in dialing in all the right frequencies. Not to advertise my for sale thread (eventhough I am doing it lol) but I am selling some Kicker SSMB8 midbasses if you're interested. and I was looking in the for sale section earlier today (just a broke ass college kid doing some window shopping) and I saw that and said that would be good shit if I had to power 2 sets of component speakers

    Ha, I just realized that I have my HPF set to 100Hz and my LPF set to 80Hz for the lows.... so I'm missing that 80-100Hz right there... dumbass attack right there lol. But I'm still interested in midbass. I'm kinda hesitant on doing it if they need their own enclosure, other wise I would like to do like a 6.5" set and throw them onto a custom bracket on the rear deck (it's a coupe so I probably only really need one set of coaxials). I have been meaning to get some sound deadener... do you recommend putting it on the entire enterior of the door? or just a few patches here and there, pics of previous builds always help to I know i would need to get an amp for these bad boys if I got midbass in my car, would I really need a crazy HU to use as an equilizer? or are there cheaper solutions.... I'm all about saving money

    So I've just got coaxials in the front and back of my ford escort Zx2 and I'm interested in midbass because there is definitely a range of frequency that is lacking the right speakers to reproduce it. Should I replace my coaxials with midbass speakers? or do a combination of midbass, mids, and sub ofcourse? I'm looking for any helpful suggestions here, thanks in advance

    noone sells an alternator for my ford escort zx2 because noone buys a ford escort zx2... except for me hahaha. I know how it feels lol. I know some places can do it custom if you let them know your model
