  1. It is not uncommon for a sub suspension to loosen up over time. Especially when tuning low and or playing chopped and screw music. I would check that the spider isn't loose from the basket. If it's not then I'm going to say it's either the install or the listening habits.
  2. I can't remember what it was tuned to. We did a few different ports for it for daily and spl. Honestly the hardest part is cutting the opening for the box to slide into.
  3. Thanks. Freehand with the router to make the template was no fun but now it's easy to carve them out
  4. I did one for a stang for a customer. He had trimmed out the frame to the seat opening and we slid in the box that way. I forget the exact measurements. It was a tight fit but it worked and allowed way more airspace then doing one through the trunk opening.
  5. You might find someone faster if you post up more of what you are looking for in a box, the gear you are using and the car it's going in. Depending on the size and complexity of the box, some builders can ship product too.
  6. My shit sits high and a hardly ever have an issue with other people. Once in awhile when I am right behind a small car, but it was just as bad when it was the stock lights. My fog lights on the other hand
  7. Like I told ya before, I would try running 1 amp to those 2 subs and see how they do. I think you might be impressed with the performance.
  8. Since you ALREAY have a build log here http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/82797-moving-my-log-here-10kw-4-15s-in-a-qx4/page__p__1136766__fromsearch__1entry1136766 I will close this one so you don't spam it up. Thank You
  9. Here ya go, more then a few on here. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/diyma-build-logs/
  10. I know you would be shocked after listening to a properly set up system, that has less then ideal product. I know of a few systems that have way less then the money in them then what those duals cost, that hang just as well with systems costing thousands of dollars.
  11. Throwing a bunch of nicely marketed grouped products in your car isn't what some would consider to be a SQ designed system. When you get into the SQ side of things, you are looking for the perfection of all sound reproduction. At the listening position, you are looking to have a sound stage with a great height, width, and depth while being warm and vibrant. Spend some time at a live non amplified concert and pay attention of how the sounds fills the room as well as how you interpret it. the work on trying to reproduce that experience in your car.
  12. Well Said Ed! I only wish this new blood had half the heart as some of us older guys.
  13. I have the TPI 460 and I agree, spending a little more to have an accurate scope and DMM is worth the money
  14. Properly build box, and the difference in sound isn't noticed IMO. benefits to a birch box are lighter and stronger. Cons are the wood can be more of a pain in the ass to work with. And splinters suck
  15. Yes Dustcaps can come loose, I would pull the sub and check that wires are not touching the back side of the come, and the spider isn't loose from the basket. I had that happen on my powerbass subs once.
  16. In Rays defense, He came to me with a damn loud system that was 100% built by him. I was just lucky enough to build him a box that was a wee bit louder.
  17. Depending on market value the price difference between MDF and a Cabinet grade Birch can be between 5-20 bucks. I would double check prices for both at your local hardwood supplier.
  18. Thats just the daily port. We haven't taken the time to try the spl tune or even try any spl testing for that matter. She might have a little more in her
  19. It's been to a comp and yes there are specs on the box Here is what it did at the headrest
  20. Sorry for the late pic. I wanted to get a video or 2 of the runs, but we were busy trying to keep the event from running all night.
  21. No that is with the seats folded down. I can't find any other pics of it. This one was without the rear seats.
  22. JOO Bastard!!! I had to dig deep to find one.
  23. I did 4 - 12's in the back of the wife's 01 screw. I fiberglassed the box to the back way and did an MDF face. If you do the subs close to the bottom you can get enough depth for decent size subs.
