  1. depending on the batt under the hood and how good all your elecrtical connections and grounds are you could probably get away with just 1 batt in the back. Thats how i am running now and it works great
  2. That blows man i'm sorry. Been there myself, a couple months ago someone kicked off my side view mirror along with the side view mirrors of several of the cars parked in front and behind me apparently "just for fun." Some people plain suck A week before that someone broke in and stole my ipod and skiing backpack as well
  3. Download audacity and you can do it on there really quickly. I think there is a thread or sticky on here somewhere with exact directions, try looking that up its how i learned to do it.
  4. Seems like your best bet would be to make some kind of heat shield between the alt and the main engine block? They look really close in the picture. Also a hood scoop with cooling fans in it would be pretty bad ass too and would work pretty well i would imagine. Thats a crazy amount of drop due to heat, really unfortunate
  5. the math says just under 1600 but i wouldnt worry about it too much, playing music its probably not going to be really anywhere near that consistently due to rise and whatnot
  6. ^yes its "any good" also i got my dc xls new for a bit less than 400 each...not sure on the pricing of the new m2s though. Honestly, you arent going to be disappointed with any of these speakers. Just read up a bit more, look around the forum and see what kind of results people are getting from their different setups and base your decision off of that rather than starting threads asking what to use. Good luck with your search!
  7. lol i love waking up to find threads like this, starts the day off on the right foot... or inch or centimeter, still not sure
  8. keep in mind the different ohm loads you will be getting with three vs two subs
  9. what crossovers/filters does this have? If it can run a set of comps active off the amp's on board crossovers I would be very interested...pm or post here thanks
  10. I posted this for someone else before too but ill let you know as well as it is applicable. For comparison this is my electrical for similar power, sundown saz3500 at 1.4 ohms nominal 1 220 amp HO alt, 1 xs 2700D, 1 xp3000 with two 1/0 runs from the alt to the front battery (2 grounds from the front battery to the frame) and the rear xp3000 is connected to the front with 1 positive and 1 negative ground. I charge at 14.4V and I stay low 14s high 13s while reving to 2000rpm on even the "worst music" (music that causes the most voltage drop) full tilt for whole songs. Before I added the 3000xp i felt safe running the system but I just had to be a bit more careful and watch voltage and turn it down when it started to get sketchy. For amp choices I would expect to spend at least $600. I know you can get a crescendo for that. Used sundown 3500 or audioque 3500 would be right around that price too
  11. Pretty sure fix my speaker sells motors too? or used to? Could be wrong. Your best bet is probably to just look for people selling motors in classifieds or subs in need of recones...and use the motor from that with whatever soft parts you want edit: or go all out and buy some raw ferrite or neodymium and a mill and get to work
  12. i believe the power class is their new top of the line followed by the black ice, both of which are supposed to be much better amps than they have been producing lately. I read a thread about it on CACO i think? They are trying to make a comeback supposedly
  13. I think you might just be missing it, there are quite a few members using line drivers i believe. The only concern is that low quality ones can introduce more problems with distortion and clipping and such so that they arent always worth it.
  14. lol thats the easy way out bro! I'm tryin to learn somethign new haha. But yeah i assumed it would come down to that. She wants to compete in idbl rookie trunk class for the time being which is limited to stock alt and one battery in stock location so electrical is what it is at this point, efficiency is the name of the game. Now to find a DD dealer and compare some prices i guess... gothcha its for competition. Do you HW then man! and go to events and see what the winners are running. I saw alot of american bass stuff and DD in the db drags and DC for sure, the hunt continues! had forgotten about ab actually 12 flat according to the website

  16. precisely what Kranny said. So sundown rates at 86% efficiency at 4 ohms but at 100Hz, skar is 85% at 4 ohms no frequency given. DD rates 87% with no load range or frequency so they are all around the same it would seem. Does anyone know of some tests anywhere comparing these numbers? The closest thing i can think of is Fecupe's 1500 watt challenge thread. There the DDs seem pretty beastly creating more power for voltage drop than the other but no sundown or skar were measured in that test.
  17. Thanks, do you have clamped numbers for output and what electrical the skar was on etc? I guess I am looking for more real world data/numbers. I am aware that all of the skar sundown dc aq dd amps etc exist, I am more looking for some technical reasoning behind the suggestion edit: lol don't worry Kranny it wasnt in the running
  18. I am doing an install for a friend and I am looking for an amp to do around 1500rms (could run at a higher ohm load than 1 to achieve better efficiency if it is worth it, she has not bought subs yet) It will be run on a stock 110 to 90amp alternator (still not sure which is in there yet) and as large of an xs d series that I can fit under the hood. So I am wondering if you guys know of any amplifiers that will do that power and are exceptionally efficient. I.e. will work well on this electrical with low current draw while still putting out rated. I know box will have a ton to do with efficiency as well but I am just talking about electrical here. Looking for suggestions, help me out if you can! *don't turn this into a verse thread if possible please
  19. net is after displacements, he was saying gross is the issue because with that much port area, the port will take alot of the "gross" box volume
  20. haha was wondering what you meant about this. Arent they kinda calculated like a 4th order? with the diamond opening being the port? Not sure how the port length is calculated though, anyone know?
