  1. there is no such thing as too low, the tuning is decided by the thiele small parameters, all subs are different. thats like saying that tuning an 8" below 40 hz is too low. it all depends on the drivers. that being said, i dont know why anyone runs Fi, their T/S specs are so terrible, DC subs are better in EVERY way (t/s wide), and im not a bandwagoneer, i havent even touched a DC sub.
  2. Orange is your box, pink is 4 sealed, 3 ported, at 40hz. i guess i dont know what im talking about then? lol.
  3. personally i love 1:.5 compression, they usually have an extremely high fidelity, and can get easily 50hz of bandwidth out of them, but running higher compression is louder, its peaky as hell and doesnt really play a full range of sounds, i'll build some boxes out of OSB next week and show you what i mean. when you run a much larger sealed chamber, you can tune alot higher with the ported chamber, and still get amazing lows, due to the lower F3 in the sealed partition.
  4. Slightly slowed, bass boosted. should BUMP! Enjoy. Big K.R.I.T. - Country Shit.mp3 - 10.21MB
  5. idkw why the hell you guys run 1:3 or 1:2, i wouldnt run anything over 1:1, but i guess i like fidelity.
  6. yeah, a clay bar kit with take it right out, will takes the least amount of time, and work, idk why nobody else said it >.> noobs.
  7. you guys should look into wetsanding and clearing them, then using some NICE polish on em, would look 2x as good.
  8. a good pray gun huh? try the jesus4000. all jokes aside, the purple HVLP guns from harbor freight really arent that bad, i just need to get a decent compressor on my tank and i'll be ready to paint, you guys might want to pull your compressor off of its tank and see how much water is in the tanks (if any), thats a great way to lose pressure and airspace. ours was like 5 years old and we drained like 5 gallons out of it, lol.
  9. The only JL sub worth a damn is the W6-W7 line, they arent meant for output, they're made for sound quality, and for the price, they do the job, you guys arent SQ guys, so i wouldnt expect you to understand.
  10. just so everyone understands, opening your windows expands the cabin space, and if your woofers waveform cant completely form with the windows up, it can get all the cabin space it needs with the windows down. it has alot to do with tuning tho. the higher the tuning, the less space it needs for the wave to completely form. im sure someone will call bullshit on this, but thats just how it works. Anyone who understands constand mouth transmission lines will understand what im trying to say.
  11. why do you people always want loud subs, not good sounding subs, for daily? http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-467 do i really need say more?
  12. july 5th there will be a nice stock of stolen head units at your local pawn shop.
  13. just post links to the songs you want boosted/de-clipped/slowed. PM works best.
  14. why are you bypassing the clutch? i think its so he can access the radios menu while driving. just find the sensor on the clutch/clutch pedal and jump the wire, im sure its just a grounded pin switch.
  15. 4 gauge.... shit... theres your problem. your amp can only amplify the amount of amps that the power wire carries, regaurdless of gain settings. buy yourself some 1/0 and do yourself a favor. like said above, what voice coils do your subs have, and give us some info on the box. i could build a custom toilet out of plywood, doesnt mean its gonna work. FI subs hate being tuned low, i have no idea why, something with the kind of suspensions and coils FI uses. plus, your port could be choking the subs. you seem to have more money than knowledge, i say just get yourself a deep cycle marine battery and swap it in. you'll be suprised what it can do.
  16. i guess now i want to do 1 15" or 2 12"s actually, for room reasons. amps will be in the side panels. i want heavy low end, so im more than likely going with: http://www.diycable.com/main/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=693 Just crunched some numbers, and it looks like a 1/1 ratio 4th order (3ft^3~3ft^3) tuned to 43 hz with 100in^2 of port mouth should give it a decent response curve, with a perfect-world F3 of about 26.5hz.
  17. sry, just saw this, the trunk on this thing is actually pretty big. i'll post pics later today after i hook up my rockfords. part of the sealed portion will be in the spare tire well, which is actually MASSIVE. should be a fun build, talked to surreal innovations and im thinking a 1024 18" on a crescendo 3500 for a first system, 4th order ported through the rear deck. can i just say, running 1/0 through this car was damn near IMPOSSIBLE.
  18. Nobodys interersted??? Im thinking 2 exodus audio tempest 15"s in 6ft^3 sealed, 6 ft^3 ported, tuned to 35zh. box will have an F3 of 23hz.
  19. op, dont buy anything that has a high qts, and make sure you see a responce graph of the actual driver its self. madisound is where i go for decent drivers at a fairly decent price, but SQ can be loud, alot of people dont believe that. takes a grip of power and fat wallet but you will be much happier.
  20. What in gods name is wrong with you people? o_o. stain the ENTIRE box cherry, and not all carpets decrease dBs, some dont affect it, depends on thickness but its like .1dB loss tho?
