I'm not doubting you at all Nate just wondering why it happened at such low power. I will check my connections and what not and report back
-
I guess, but another guy i know told me the same thing and i know for a fact he wouldn't give out advice unless he was sure. I also saw no fuses what so ever on his system or any other TML guys vehicles so i went off of that. Not excusing that as a fact but what would cause it to surge or short at such low volume and how would a fuse have stopped it ?
-
Anton Miller & ther members of TML
-
Allot of people told me not to fuse from the d3400 to the amp. two runs from the d3400 TO the amp (dual inputs) and each wire is maybe a foot long. The wire isnt disconnected so could me not fusing have done some damage to it ?
-
i will check that, i guess its possible i wasn't holding the meter on the wire tight. I can check in a couple hours. I am just hoping that the amp isn't blown or shorted out
-
the battery up front has a positive run to the rear battery. on that run of wire there are 2 fuses that have to be good because i am getting 14 volts at both batteries while the car is running. From the second battery to the amp on thos TWO positve runs i was told not to fuse because its so short. like a foot of wire each.
-
Nate, when you say power problem what are you in telling? because i checked the d3400 battery in back, and it reads 14.4 volts. that battery has 2 power wires running off of it that go to the amp. so the amp is getting power to it , seems like it won't take it.
-
Yes, The amp has dual inputs, and both of those inputs read 7 or so volts. i couldn't reach the remote wire on the amp but i know the relay which is connected to the remote wire is reading 14 volts.

So i know the things I am suppose to check but i just want to get other peoples thoughts on this because i am at a lose ATM. I was driving to work playing the stereo. Amp is an AQ 3500.1 and subs are omega 12's. Wired at .7 ohms nominal. gain is 1/4 the way up on amp, not far at all as i am waiting on omega recones. Volume was literally a little more than 1/2 ( 24 of 40 ) and i was watching voltage. lowest i saw was 13.5 volts @ the amp. My electrical consists of stock battery, d3400 in parellel in the back, big 3 everywhere, Singer 250 amp alternator. Rpms where at 1500 - 1600 or so cruising at 48 mph. The amp just stopped working almost like someone turned it off. so i shut the radio off pull over. Amp is cold not warm at all. no loose connections. i check the relay that i installed that powers the amp turn on, 14 volts all sides of relay. I check BOTH positive inputs on the amp and they read about 7 volts. amp wont turn on. Subs aren't even warm either. When radio killed there was no smoke, no noise, no static basically no sign that something was wrong. any thoughts or do i have to pull the amp and send it in ?

MIKE-2U replied to AMI CUSTOMS's topic in MechMan Alternators and 12v Accessories
Quick silly question. does that voltage module allow you to turn up and down the voltage? also where did you get it. Thanks man and beautiful alternators. -
Get yourself one hell of an electrical system to back it up. so with a nice electrical system it can run at .5 easily??? cuz if is like that I'm in Yes these DC audio amps can be ran at .5 ohms daily. Maybe lower im not sure. But a strong electrical system is A.MUST.

Contact Singer Alternators, im always weiry about buying a used alternator. Ohio Gen, DB Electric, Mechman & Dc power of course are the others you will hear meantioned
-
I think i will start with 2 -3 group 31s and see where that puts me, Nate how many do you think i need and do you think i can get away with batteries and the alternator i have ?
-
Thats the best alternator i could get at the time and i am switching cars hopefully in a month or so, soooo i wanna make it work till then if possible i dont wanna wreck anything

I'm starting to wonder. lol

Mechman 270A low idle voltage/slippage
MIKE-2U replied to adreano17's topic in MechMan Alternators and 12v Accessories
Snow drifter can you help me , I have a singer alternator (250) Amp, on a Pontiac G6, he said i have a smaller pulley on it ( don't recall ration) and i get low 13's high 12s at idle. Car idles at 550- 600 rpms. New belt and belt tension. Only squeak is quick second on crank to start. -
So 600 amps , subtract 200 (80%) of my alt and thats 400 amps left. soo where do i get that 400 from ?

Mechman 270A low idle voltage/slippage
MIKE-2U replied to adreano17's topic in MechMan Alternators and 12v Accessories
X2 same with my singer but i believe mine is low idle. Mine slips for a split second when it cranks to start -
Other options besides 5100r?

Just a thought Kranny, could relocate battery to back with a relocation kit.
