you could run a neg run from front to back and ground on chassis on the back. If you are not comfortable with grounding just the chassis.

I would wait until you get fuses for the pos run. Fuse front and back and call it a done.

You would be fine grounding it to the chassis. Its actually way better than front to back. Check this video.

Agree but if you have the money and some 8 guage wire laying around then i say use it or buy it but since you already have 12 gauge then use that. Thats just my opinion.

You wont find good true clamp meter with that budget. You could get a craftsman for 130 i believe let me look it up.
