i know autozone just started making agm batteries i think they are duralast platinum. not sure about quality as i havent used them yet but they are gel batteries. maybe that? otherwise i would go interstate.....i think thats what i got under the hood on my soob and it took a beating for awhile before i got a second battery in the hatch. still goin strong. good luck -jarrid

not to threadjack but i have the 122x and it hits like 2 12's so it should be nice and loud lol from what ive heard though if you run them @ 1000w rms a piece the voice coils start to burn.... just a thought! also if i were you i would invest in a dd-1. itll help you set your gains so you dont send a clipped (distorted) signal to your subs causing them to blow......

the vvx series i have seen run on about 1000 rms a piece safely on a UNCLIPPED signal. they are another brand that is underrated. they wont tell you to run that much to them probably but if i were you i would talk to kevin from skar audio or maliboom. they both are involved with skar audio......i believe kevin is the owner but i could be wrong. they will be able to answer any question about skar subs and amps. good luck -jarrid

your hood release is electric? i have never seen that on any car....only cable. shit my moms mercedes is even cable lmao damn toyotas bein different HA. anyways i would do exactly what these guys are saying.... hose it down with pb blaster....i dont like wd 40 because it is actually like a degreaser in some of its chemical properties.... read the can "removes oil" or something like that. also make sure your hood latch isnt bent....a bent latch WILL cause problems for releasing lol good luck! -jarrid

*this should be stickied* great write up. found out about the muffler the hard way. went from stock 2 1/2 pipe to 3 1/2 id inlet and 4" id out. it was too loud and lost bottom end because of no tune..... it sounded the same as running with no muffler. LOL needless to say i put a different muffler on it with a lil bit smaller diameters..... its like 2 3/4 id inlet and 3 " out. does way better than before and also quieter ha -jarrid

what i would do it play around with the wastegate..... is it an internal wastegate? it usually runs off a vacuum actuator that when your boost hits a certain "bar" (psi) it open up a flap bypassing the turbo....well alot of these wastegates have a threaded rod and by adjusting the nut on the threaded rod you can achieve a higher boost level by delaying the wastegate from opening. *do it at your own risk* alot of people have done it successfully BUT i would google it on your specific car to get an idea of how its done. im sure there are plenty of forum for performance on s80's . could be fun. keep us posted id like to see what you end up doing -jarrid

They are the best of blocks to boost, thanks to an open deck design. Great motor to build for N/A though no open deck block is good to boost..... thin cylinder walls..... a great block to boost is a fully closed deck..... have it sleeved and put bout 25 psi to it (with proper internals and standalone ecu and such) and you will have a QUICK car. me personally im not a honda person...dont have anything against them but i like my subaru. btw isnt the k20 the most powerful out of the box? thats what i was told lol i heard they are hard to find aftermarket parts for though n thats why no one uses them..... idk... Sorry about that. I had mean't they aren't the best block to boost right off the bat. agreed i would only put about 5 lbs of boost on a stock open deck engine. but it has to be a SMALL volume turbo....like from a saab 9-3 or a wrx ej20....even an audi a6. you could also get one from an old subaru brat ea81.... small turbo and works alright....after 5-8 lbs boost you need alot of money to do it the right way. standalone ecu (piggyback are a waste of time and money) bigger injectors and or another 1 or 2 mounted in the throttlebody, bigger fuel pump, rising rate fuel regulater, colder spark plugs, and a GOOD tune. otherwise kiss ur engine goodbye. and btw for anyone that doesnt know : a blow off valve is HORRIBLE on a n/a engine boosted with stock everything. computer cant compensate for the sudden boost pressure leaning it way out and causing detonation or preignition. cold air intake, exhaust. those are basically the only easy things you could do..... maybe a cam cuz its easy to get to..you could try deltacams dot com... but i would if anything drop in a sentra se-R engine (the 2.5 liter) its way quicker than the 1.8l -jarrid

i would get an older 302 and drop in a 347 stroker kit and a couple other bolt ons like : bigger throttle body, oversized injectors, obviously bigger fuel pump, cold air intake, 2 chamber flowmaster cat back exhaust (hollow the cats), t5 tranny with a 5 finger clutch, oh and to pass emissions with the hollow cats dump some rubbing alcohol in the gas tank b4 test. oh and i would lower it 1" in the front and 1 1/2" in the back.... gives it a nice stance and pretty level. does it have the old style turbine wheels? you should grab some if not and drop those on there....they look sick. or maybe some 5 spoke pony wheels (the dark ones) my 2 cents -jarrid

idk...i was able to run a 200w alpine amp off a 300w power supply and it was hooked to 2 12's....this one puts out 16 amps and i think 178w....so not much but this does well and gets loud for what it is.... LOL
