  1. I still have a Fosgate Punch200DSM from 1993. My friend actually bought it and I believe the price was $649-679 retail. $650/400 = $1.625 I bought it from him used for $450: $450/400 = $1.125 Recently picked up a DC2K used. $385/2000 = $0.1925 I agree with Steve...there is NO reason to bitch about amp prices today...period! Not to mention that most (mono) amps today are Class D which makes them much more efficient then the old school amps. So even though they are much more powerful, they aren't as hard on your electrical as they could be...
  2. My FedEx guy was PISSED after bringing my TWO XP3000's up to my 3rd floor condo... Probably why one of them had cosmetic damage on one of the corners, so I had to bring the FedEx guy back and return it. I had him bring the replacement to my garage after that...
  3. Holy crap, this looks like its going to be brutal... Your location shows Mile High, if so I'd love to check this thing out sometime.
  4. Thank you Thank you Thank you For marketing the correct cable for the correct application. Seeing "twisted pair" EVERYWHERE was getting old....... I've got good old RG6 and its way too stiff. I've been meaning to look for smaller and more flexible coax and BAMM you guys bring out another great product! A lot of people aren't going to know which cable they need, given 90% will be single-ended. Any thoughts of a tester to help people tell the difference easily if the info isn't readily available? Spoiler: Use a DMM referenced to ground. Probe each conductor of your RCA or HU ouput connection. Play a test tone at your max unclipped volume. If you see AC voltage on both conductors, you're differential. If you only see AC voltage on the center conductor, and not the outside conductor, your single ended. Really liking the innovation you guys are bringing to the game!
  5. Nice clean way to integrate those knobs! Very stealth! I am truly jealous of your trunk depth. Wish I had that kind of room. Soo much room to play with and you knocked it out of the park.
  6. A broken solder joint really needs to be resoldered. It may work in a home environment but in a car with vibrations (road & bass) will cause it to loosen up again. A broken solder joint also has the potential for increased resistance which will reduce your signal. That solder joint will also gain contaminates over time which could corrode the connection. Further force on that broken joint could also damage the circuit traces and make the enevitable repair more difficult. How's the noise with it reinserted? Still on warranty? If it is, they should fully test it out and could fix any other potential issues it may have...assuming the monster cables didn't cause the issue..? If its not on warranty anymore, pop the back and snap some pics for a better idea of the damage.
  7. Holy crap! Yeah that could affect your signal. I flaky ground could definitely couple in some noise. If its out of warranty and the input is a seperate board, I can resolder it for ya (I work in a lab...). If the whole main board needs to come out it might be tricky. If you can, get some pics with the bottom cover off.
  8. NICE video! Lots of advice out there to use line drivers with HU's that have "low" output voltages. This is a great example of how LD's can actually cause more harm then good.
  9. Awesome seeing these theories put to a real world test. Nice video! Now I'm anxious to get one and find some more uses for it myself.
  10. ^agree I'd go back to those shops and raise some hell! Gain settings should be the first thing they check, if they knew what they were doing... I'm guessing they were pretty quick to try and sell him something else?
  11. Great customer service Rusty! I'm anxious to get my XLm2's rolling soon!
  12. Item sold: Alpine INA-W900 HU and H100 Imprint Processor Date sold: Aug 23rd 2012 Experience: Positive Payment: Quick payment Comments: Fast PM replies Overall: Great guy, would deal with again without question
  13. NICE! Interested to see build pics. Inthe middle of mounting amps in my M3 and i'm curious how you tackled yours.
