    who made your box, is it prefab? i had the same problem my h/u clips at 33 out of 35, when i would be listening to music i would turn it to 18 and sounded good if i went up to 21 sounded nasty so even if i was able to go to 33 without clipping i had bad sound, the fix was building a new box and get rid of my prefab box, now i listen at 18 and the more i turn up my h/u the louder it gets and very clean sound too

    make sure if you have a EQ you need to set it to flat, and for bass boost you can turn it up but you wont be able to set your gains higher so just set it to where you like it then set gains from there

    why are you changing tracks? you should leave it at what track you set the gain too. different track will give you a different distortion on gain setting

    i say do your research by looking at the company history and product reviews. i cant tell you what alt to get since i never tried all of them and cant and wont say which is better but all companies mentioned above are good

    if you can fit a cs130d it would be better since its a bigger case and it is better on staying cool

    the only problem would be belt slip since you have v belt, and look at prices on ebay, some newer model claim to do 250a for under $200 newer models offer better cooling, better cooling less failure

    is it a GM alt? sound like it is. i changed mine from my truck and upgraded to the cs130, if you say your wiring skills are good you should look into getting a new stile alt. the wiring is really simple, i got a pig tail from ebay with a resistor in it for $20 and ran it to ignition, the other one to my distribution block and it charges way better

    you can buy a resistor and wire it to ignition and the other one to constant power, the resistor should be around 500 ohms if the alternator is the same model and just bigger in amps then you can just wire it to the stock plug edit: i wouldnt get the one wire alt since if it fails you will get be out of luck finding someone to rebuild it back to one wire. just get the one you can plug up to stock harness or you can even buy a better unit and buy an adapter plug than can make it work
