      I thought the batteries had a steel insert or something though? So the screws go into something more solid than lead

      No steel insert snow that I know of. Just lead and threads, And yes its pissing me off because the first one was stolen and no sign of my replacement.

      First off you would need to be very carefull trying to tap a battery post, lead is very soft and can easily strip or damage the threads. Second, I would not trust harbor freight tap/die kits for anything
