  1. Congrats on the Alt, Sounded great at slamfest. Get that roof deadened for more DBEEZZZZZZZZ! got a video of your ride on my youtube too
  2. Hey kevin, its jeff again. Ill be there but im not a skar guy yet till i buy either them 1500's or a 2500 like you suggested. Just fixing my EGR, putting struts on my car, alignment, and a fuel filter then i should be all set for a long trip!.... and ill be driving up there saturday! Hope its an awesome show. 5 hours each way and 80$ in gas later, one can only hope.
  3. Turning green wit envy mr ray. Can't wait till this comes out to the public along with the SMD volt meter. If each one costs a kidney.... I might be in trouble
  4. I wish when I actually had an educated and intellectual question I got Half this attention. This guy is talking about L7s like they are DD or FI, and using capacitors ?! I've seen better systems come out of the swap shop flea market! A cap, 2 kickers, and a horrible amp. Sigh....
  5. Downloaded 320 version from wccaraudio nice and easy, thanks Steve. Commented on psyphs YouTube channel to tell him personally how dope his album is. Currently raping the reply button on tracks 2,3,6,12 but all are pretty sick. Deff not a 1 hit wonder, those beats are sick, thanks chp, and psyph better have some more hits soon! Nothing better then the "awesome album that no one has herd while driving down the beach boomin" feeling
  6. I was under the impression that zero bass boost with a track 5 DD1 tune was best. Tuning by ear, using bass boost, and guessing where to set crossovers are the best ways to make amps clip. I proved this to myself once by giving myself 15 minutes to adjust a bass amp as best as I could to be as loud and clean as possible. After 15 minutes, it was okay... But when I used the DD1 I found that I was clipping badly, causing the amp to overheat, and also I was losing some of the lower notes because of the clipped signal. Also I guessed what volume the head unit clipped and found out I was working with a distorted signal before I even touched the gain. The result. After 15 minutes I did my best to get a clipped signal that sounded maybe 6 of 10 on a rating scale. With the DD1 it took about 45 seconds to find the max unclipped volume on the head unit, and another 20 seconds once I got to track 5 (the compromise between sq bass setting and spl setting) to find the proper gain setting. What's not to love about the DD1? There are too many variables to do it properly as a human with only a screw driver. Your guessing where the head unit distorts, your probably not using clean tracks to start with, your ear can't hear distortion until it gets past some obscure number like 8% distortion unless your a trained audio file and then it's like 3% distortion. And this isn't even accounting for the output voltage of your head unit. If 2v then your gain will be higher, if 5v your gain might not even be half way up. Props to Steve for making me seem like a pro when tuning systems for head units, mids highs, and bass. People are always like "nah it's tuned by a professional shop" and I hop on there and show them how it's really done properly... Yet it's so easy to use. Moral of the story. If you want it right, spend the 140$ or whatever it is... And save the doubt and headache. The machine is better then the human ear in this instance.
  7. See now i understand what you said more clearly. the 14.4 is the DC voltage. Not AC. the AC voltage is after the amplifier amplifies it and the gain knob controls how much it is amplified. meaning i use a DD1 to insure zero distortion... and i set my amp up on 2 channels... and i use the volt meter on the the speaker outputs to measure 18.4 v... Now will doing it this way give me any benefits? Since you had to guide me into understanding how my own amp works (i feel like a student being guided by a teacher lol) ... can you or someone else explain the benefits of it? does it have something to do with "headroom" that i keep hearing about? ... Will it make the amp work less hard, giving it better SQ or better efficiency or something?
  8. Thats what i was hopeing i wouldnt do. Because these mids were not exactly cheap for my budget that i can replace them tomorrow if needed... but at the same time i was like... DARN... what to use the other 2 channels for... lol
  9. Yeah that was noob, i was thinking 14.4 volts lol. time to google some to help me understand the valuable info you just provided in a language i dont fully understand =]
  10. If this is true... then 14.4 squared is 207.36... 207.36 / 2.7 (actual resistance of my speakers at hand) is 76.8 RMS.. and since they can take 125 rms then i can run 2 channels on one set?
  11. No i will have 2 woofers and 2 tweeters total. 1 600-4 total. 128 x 4 @ 4 ohms or 395 x 2 @ 4 ohms (on birth sheet) My question is... is it beneficial to run my amp as a 2 channel (395 rms) but keep the gain super low (confirmed zero distortion with my DD1) or just run them on 2 of my 4 channels (128 rms) They will take a single channel of my amp full power no problem. But i was unsure of "headroom" and its principles. That maybe theres a benefit to giving the speakers way too much power but keeping the gains so they are not putting out Max RMS power (set using my DD1)
  12. You run 2 woofers and 2 tweeters off a 4 channel that can easily push double the speakers RMS? Id just hate to pop 200$ of speakers on the first day.
  13. So i ordered a brand new set of Polk MM6501 components, and i have a rockford T600-4... but i decided against rear fill for the moment. Is it possible to run my amp as a 2 channel on these mids? i realize 790rms is too much for 125 rms each side (250 total) Will keeping the gains lower give me more headroom or something to this effect? Or should i just run it as a 4 channel (128 rms) and leave the other 2 channels empty for now till i find a better use. I do have a dd1, i was thinking setting the gains on SQ setting as a 2 channel on my 600-4... maybe that wouldnt be too much as long as i have a clean signal from the HU and a clean signal super low gain on my amp?.... Help please. Installing on tuesday
  14. http://s1071.photobucket.com/albums/u503/Jeffrey_Hald/?action=view&current=428d0247.jpg http://s1071.photobucket.com/albums/u503/Jeffrey_Hald/?action=view&current=9d8ad2f0.jpg http://s1071.photobucket.com/albums/u503/Jeffrey_Hald/?action=view&current=a11affcd.jpg Got my package on time. Package was great, i didnt take pictures of it because the UPS guy tossed it in my yard and my dog had to mark what was new in the yard . Anyways after i ditched that box the rockford box was fine, packing looked like it was new. Honestly everything was in GREAT used condition. A few scratches around the unit and one small dent on the metal part on the top of the amp.. But im sure he didnt exactly keep it in a glass case in his living room if you know what i mean. No complaints at all. Hopefully he will want to part with his mids and highs soon . When i can i will be buying from him again; very honest and helpful. Maybe meet him at a future show and trade some demos? Cool guy, if he has anything you want for sale. Id put him top of the list. If only he had the rest of my future equipment! lol id really hate to find out that other guys selling stuff on SMD are not as great as he is.
  15. I've seen some amps run at .175... But when it comes to electrical AMI knows his shit. Believe me i know AMI is a mad scientist/genius when it comes to car audio.. i follow all his videos and have had a few short chats with him on youtube PM when he answered my questions. I was just hoping AMI himself could donate 5 minutes and explain how its possible to (safely) push those amps that hard, and maybe a general rule to follow of Watts/electrical when you push your systems lower then 1 ohm. I love learning off him and a few others when i can because not only are they awesome at what they do, they dont mind teaching others which is awesome
  16. Why not just get a few more AQ 3500's? .335 ohms is just retarded low. Lol are you sure that's safe?
  17. Thanks bro. Getting paid tomorrow. Hope this doesn't sell. I'm looking for your exact amp. What's shipping to 33315?
