you can still do it, i was just saying thats how we did it on the race cars. but yea put your muffler closest you can to the motor, and then off of that do the soapstone trick for the optimum pipe length for your motor, and remember every motor is different, so someone else might need longer pipe or shorter pipe and have the same exact motor

Need An Engine
qu1cks1lver56 replied to dwright27's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
haha youre killin me, the 327s make a whole lot more power than the 350s in the stock trucks. look for a 5.3 out of a 99-up half ton and throw that bish in there. -
heres what you need to do if you wanna run straight pipes. put your pipe on the headers, and take some soap stone and draw a line from the collectors on down the length of the pipe. then crank it up and run it till its up to temperature. it will burn the soapstone off until a certain point. where it stops is where you cut the pipe off, then thats the length of pipe that your motor will run the best on and have the correct backpressure. we used to do this on racecars when we wanted to run an exhaust system instead of open headers. hope this will help, and the gas mileage, im not too sure whether it will help or hurt it, but this way is the best way to get the most power gains from your exhaust.

Lucas Oil
qu1cks1lver56 replied to Aaron813's topic in Engine and Performance - Anything for that couple extra horses!
i use lucas in everything i own. that shit is an engine saver. eliminates dry starts, makes oil last longer, its attracted to heat. we ran it in all our race motors and after we tore one down 6 months later it was still on the crank sittin in the shop. im a firm believer in it -
