you are really missing out on some major output with that sub in a sealed box. Nice sub though...I love Type R's
-
what makes you thing a bandpass will always have a flat response??? It's hard to tell without knowing the transfer function. a ported enclosure can be made to produce a flat response what 18 inch subs do you have?? the missing higher end could just be the natural high end roll off due to the inductance

box will hit the lows fine

call up 1-800-the-tube

Sub Box Question Alpine Type R
aznboi3644 replied to hoppinAltima's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
I hate the sound of Type R's sealed...sound like crap to me with weak low end. I'd take a single R ported over two sealed any day. My single 12" R in my t-line destroyed my friends two sealed -
different kind of sound??? LOL wow

dude seriously...just don't even look at peak numbers...they are made up numbers so people think there is more power than there is. It's just for sales.

Voice Coil Broke... Can I Fix It?
aznboi3644 replied to jizzybizzy's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
tinsel lead breaking is caused from user error/ overexcursion. Warranty may not cover that....I'm not sure though -
RE Calculator sucks

Need Cubic Feet For Type R 12's Sealed
aznboi3644 replied to IH8PunkRok's topic in Subwoofers / Enclosures
I hate the sound of a Type R sealed...they do spec better towards ported. Sealed they sound like crap with weak lows -
power compression??

they can get as loud as you want them...ENCLOSURE ENCLOSURE ENCLOSURE

actually in some applications the sub will blend better out of phase in relation to the front speakers. In my truck...its really weird. With the sub wired in phase the bass is weak...after flipping the sub out of phase with the fronts the bass is A LOT louder. I don't know why. I guess its the loading environment w.r.t. the enclosure.

haha 2-3 db's yeah right. Also a speaker exerts the same force in either direction...who told you that most of the pressure comes from the backwave (it mounted normally)

Thats a nice 200 watt amp there....lol 2700 bucks for that = butt raped -
I'll do a couple MECA events here in town
-
why do people judge products they have never had experience with nor even seen in person. I've owned some bazooka products in my first ever system...pretty decent stuff. Its about the enclosure anyways
-
Output won't die...just be a little less. I didn't put 45's in my t-line and it still raped the fuck outta other systems with more cone area and power
-
don't add polyfill to it...it won't do much except lower the efficiency of the enclosure

DD isn't the only recone you can do with this sub...Jake from Sundown was selling a couple 12's that Fi reconed for him I believe.
