clipping is from either you have your head unit up to much, or your amp is turned up to much. clipping is when you try to overdrive the amp causing power spikes and causing the sound wave to have the tips cut off. When the sub is playing and it gets to the flat area in the sound wave it stays in place and heats up from not being able to move to cool down and the spike in current that clipping gives off here is a picture of what a normal sound wave and the clipped on the right.

dude I have owned plenty of v8's 1982 5.0 5spd 1988 monte carlo ss 1998 svt cobra 2001 ws6 t/a (ran 11's on street tires) and I still regret never buying the 2001 gtp I could have gotten. you will love the car once you start playing with it. exhaust (headers back) pulley ported eaton intake tune (most important) little suspension work and good tires you will be in the 12's area with a fwd car they can sound pretty mean as well

dd's are one of the best sounding spl subs you can get, I think it's funny that they have a rep for sounding bad. They don't color the sound like 90% of the other subs do, and they play flat

impedance rise isn't constant. relying on it to save your amp is asking for problems

it should be someplace in the low 30's but not sure on how much gain it has in that area
