State of Hawaii trying to ban ALL aftermarket systems

Recommended Posts

man bruh you r better off comming to the main land, since my uncle lives in hawaii, and he says people get mad bc they can hear that stuff everytime they go by, but still if hawaii was connected to the main land i think they would think differently about trying to pass this damn thing

Even if this law was passed I wouldn't move just because of it. I would continue bangin like normal, I'd probably just be on the look out for cops a little more than normal. I'm more concerned about all the shops down here that depend on this industry to make a living.

dumb bill = wont happen, seriously you have to be fucking retarded to pass a bill like this imo.

Ha ha don't be so sure... We have a law here in hawaii called RECON...

Any time something is modified on the car, it must be inspected and approved (you must pay for the inspection). When you get inspected you recieve a sticker that shows that the modifications were approved, but if you get caught driving with modifications that are not approved there are fines..

So how dumb is this law... You need recon if you move your license plate from the stock location (like move it up 2 inches for whatever reason)... Adding RIMS to your car requires recon.. Adding 4x4 tires require recon...

to sum it up you need PERMISSION to modify your car in ANY WAY shape or form PERIOD..

SEMA and CEA fight this kind of thing all the time...no worries. It won't pass as written. They can pass noise ordinance laws, but this is effectively creating a monopoly....even if it DOES pass, it will be shot down in appeals court...I have no question this won't pass

Actually Cliff, they dropped the recon for rims years back, before could only go within 1.5" of stock or you needed recon, now you can do any size without recon as long as you don't rub. But yea we have some retarded laws here, this isn't so cut and dry where it's not going to pass because it's retarded. If anything it would pass if nobody was there to oppose it just because it would get voted through without thinking.

the first one was written by Todd Ramsey...one of car audio's best friends...he's a consultant who does this, among other things, for a living. we have professional lobbyists already planning to be there to fight this.
