It was the middle of winter and about 5 degrees, and i had no tools, jack stands, etc, so i had to have somebody do it. The shop said it was the starter, and i thought, perfect, 250-350 and I'll be good to go. But NO, they fucking charged me 505dollars for a goddamn starter for a fucking four cylinder escort. Fuckin a. I gave them a little piece of my mind when i left, because i doesn't want to piss them off before they fixed my car, lol. But still, that's bs. I had a lady bring in a pile of shit Aerostar with the trans acting up and figured a service would fix it. I told her that often times when its that bad that changing fluid can actually make the problem worse, she said that was fine and go ahead and do it. I wrote on the work order that I had advised the customer of the risk and made her sign directly under that. Later that day she called back yelling about how the trans went out and she had to get the van towed home, she wanted us to pay for the tow, a new trans from another shop since she didn't trust us and a rental car. I just hung up because she was just going off. She sued us and I had to go to court with the owner. We presented our paperwork and she said we added that extra disclaimer after she left. She submitted a photocopy of her receipt and you could clearly see where she put a piece of paper over that then made the copy. Needless to say they sided with us, she was calling us racists and all kinds of shit on the way out of court. People would come in all the time and get a quote for their lex or acura and start bitching because our policy was the tires have to match speed ratings set by the manufacturer. they acted like there was literally nowhere else to buy tires. I would try to explain to them our policy for a while, but then I realized it was a hell of alot easier to just tell them where they could go to get them. its the horror stories man. everyone always has a story where they were ripped off or screwed over by that shop or this shop. but it comes down to the fact that people are just ignorant and want to point the finger at someone else...anyone but themselves. not to mention get someone else to pay for it. so vent man, only thing you can do is keep them informed as much as they want to be.
