It is the faulty glue joint. It happened to 3 of 4 subs 3 of them being all on the same shipment from soundstream and the fourth which is still working now was a completely different batch.

Bang em if you got em

CLIPPING DID NOT CAUSE THE PROBLEM>>>>>I REPEAT CLIPPING DID NOT CAUSE THE PROBLEM

I never said it caused the problem, we are just pointing out after you get this issue fixed, you will probably blow it due to clipping....

fix that issue, and fix your subs and you wont have a problem

unless you have scoped your amps you dont know if you are clipping or not. stop taking it personal and trying to come off as a know it all and realize that everyone is just trying to help you.

I agree with you, but I don't agree how everyone jumped down his throat saying clipping cause this.

I could say telling how he needs to properly set his gains, but its not mandatory.

I've never properly set my gains, yet I've never had a problem. But I do know when a sub has reach its limits.

my example pretty much summed it up, if he doesnt have this problem next time, next will be blown subs from clipping..

he can take any amp, he can take the pyle 5000wmax amp, set it to 5000w with the dmm, and he will be clipping the shit out of the subs...

just because he gains his amps with a dmm doesnt really mean hes clipping, but he CAN still be clipping, DMM setting does not STOP clipping, which this guy was under the impression that setting it with a DMM stops it from clipping...

which is why we are trying to educate him that DMM gain settings do not stop the amp from clipping.

This statement is 100% correct

The SPLX is not made in america anymore, and changed vendors. I'am willing to bet, this is just a manufacturer change, assumed there glue would be fine, and wasn't "plastic" friendly

When a assembly line in China builds a woofer, they don't think about how the woofer will be handling tons of power, and will be used to its max, they think. "Pass me the next speaker so I can do another glue bead so my 12 hr day at 25cents an hr will go quicker"

I personally had a glue problem a few months ago, well about a year ago. The glue I used for plastic was in the window sill during the day, and when it was time to use it, it needed to be thinned with tuelene (sp) and all the times thinning the hardened glue it weakened it, and was no longer good for plastic bonding anymore.

I'am positive that is what happened with that SPLx, the original american made ones were beasts, well build, well engineered, and didn't break like that lol

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
