guimond47
hey guys i currently have 3 12" alpine type R's in a 7.2 Cu-NET box and i want to add another. is a 7.2 cu-net box too small for 4 alpine type R's? and if i want my box tuneed to a lower freq do i make my port longer tword the wall of the inside of the box so air cant get out as easily? if its too small then im thinking of building a new box. okay my old box is tunned to 35.5 hz. it suck on lows like no flex to my mirrors. for example , the song young jeezy - count it up. strickly a 30hz tone around i think and theres no excusion and barly air movement in the vehicule. if i tune to 32 hz would it be better. ? a longer port makes the freq tune lower if im right? because i got plans for a box at 8.4 cu-net for 4 12" and he tunned it to 34 hz and i want a lower freq like 30-32 hz to hit that flexin' spot. ya know. let me know some details thanks. Dan2427
I think you would be ok with 7.2 cubes. What amp do you have and what are you settings? mazdaspl
I personally would go for a new box and tune it right with all 4 12's.. Jay

98crewcab
asked tons of people this same question. found the most common answer was 2.3 cubes per sub, 30 square inches of port per sub, and 34hz for tuning. Thats what I built for running 3200watts to them. loved it. guimond47
this is the description of the box he sent me : In order to make the internal volume correct, I had to shrink it down to 20 inches in height. Here's what I came up with; 40Wx20Hx28D, 8.4ft^3 net, 117in^2 port area, 21.5 inches effective port length for 34hz tuning to go with 4 subs at top with port at top .... If i knew how to upload pics i'd send you a picture..... but u can see it here http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n614/guimond47/?action=view¤t=mybox5.jpg#!oZZ1QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs1142.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fn614%2Fguimond47%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3Dmybox5.jpg copy and paste the link into your internet browser:) Quote Orion 2500D , 2-10" alpine type X. Although I had better response with a little bit less port area Quote Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
