More realistic then the floorboard and a door open.

Not scared to try a new type of show, but as i look like at MECA I wonder is that for me?

I think a stock car is a stock car. Not one that has no rear panels and has been gutted for spl. Which is a no no in db drag.

Spray foam and other tricks all okay for MECA, but I hope to step up to Nationals levels in db drag. So unless I dedicate a second care to Meca...

I'll have 2 stay where I am.

As much as I love db Drag my passion for Car Audio is by far stronger. It is a question every person who is a competitor or is thinking of becoming a competitor should consider. Like many of my fellow db drag competitors I have committed a significant amount of time and money into the organization and into competing. Not just car audio equipment but, vehicles, time and MILES.

I think one of the main thing we as competitors tend to forget is that the sport of car audio competition was created to directly promote the car audio industry and that it is suppose to be a marketing tool. It is this fundamental element we need to remember especially in this economy we live in. So if you were a business, would you spend money to host a show? Especially if the show may not even generate any money and could in fact lose you money the day of the show.

It was fun being an active competitor and making every show rain or shine. However, in my life priorities have definitely changed and making a show is just not a priority. I began the transition to hosting shows last year and will continue to do so moving forward.

Thanks to everyone who replied, I posted this threadon TP too

I am partial to MECA simply because it is the first org I have competed in, and the one that seems most prevalent in my area (central cal)...that said, i dont think meca is any "better" then the others...I actually like some of the others rules/classes better then meca. My car is built for meca for now, but I would like to get it to a point where I could compete at other events as well and be within rules/guidelines etc. One of my teamates seems to really like DBdrag, and that has piqued my interest as well. "DC98hoe" has done well in all events, and I not only respect his efforts, but it has opened my mind to other orgs/events. I plan to go to my first dbdrag show next month, even though I do not plan to compete, I still plan to go to promote and support our hobby...regardless of what org/class we compete in, we all share the same hobby

Yeah both Ray and Mario are some of our newer competitors as of last season and have really taken an open mind to competing. This is MECA's second season out here and we (my team and myself) hope to continue its growth as well as continued support for db drag and any other organization that may come along.

Only DB Drag out here with 1 USACi or MECA show here and there.

I really dig MECA because I find it more of an "Accurate" measurement of what your vehicle sounds like to the ear with normal driving conditions.

I kinda like NSPL but I would get raped in my class. LMAO.

I was reading through the NSPL rules and like this rule.

10. If a competitor, protest another’s competitor’s SPL reading, the competitor must put up $1,500.00 to the head judge. The competitor that has had their SPL reading challenged must have his or her vehicle inspected and rejudged. If no violations are found, he or she receives the $1, 500.00. If the accused competitor refuses to be inspected and rejudged, he or she will be disqualified and the $1,500.00 is returned to the protester.

As Kimo has said soundoff's were "to directly to promote the car audio industry" in my area it seems the car audio industry is strictly out for the money!!! The vast majority of business treat their customers like cattle going in and out of the slaughter house. It's sad to say but it is true. I have been working for the last 6 months to change this atmosphere locally and check in on the shops and discuss business ethics with the owners. After all there is a difference between a owner or installer saying I wish they could have spent alittle more so i could have done x y and z ... but since I can't now I'll do the best I can with what I have. Verses the owner feeding the customer a like of crap and then laughing that he got over on that sucker when he walks out the door! End of Rant.

My issues with multiple org's is definitely the different set of rules and trying to build so I can run in the appropriate classes that make me competitive. It's kind of confusing what you can and can't do for each. Furthermore, some of the rules are so vague they leave a lot of room for interpretation and when confronted with a potential violation typically the judges interpretation not the competitors.

And probably the most important is the AVAILABILITY to the competitor. EXPOSURE IS THE KEY TO CHANGING THINGS!
