iKidwell Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) Well i let my step brother build part of my box for me not thinking that it was really going to need a ton of bracing (only used 1 vertical dowel) or glassing or anything. I was wrong. Today i was demoing and the front of the box pretty much blew off(if screws weren't holding it), it broke through a layer of wood glue and 2 layers of liquid nails, after i realized that happened i started looking thoroughly at more of the box. They've done it to almost every side ..time for me to build a new box. I'd like to try and see if i've got the room for a 4th order with 4 12's...so if i do go that route i'm gonna need some input. If you used liquid nails to glue the pieces together that may be a clue as to why things didnt hold up. But anyway its still pretty sweet to say SPL broke ur box. Level 3's ftw How many subs / how many watts? anything over 1500w you should def do some bracing. gl with the new build man i used titebond ultimate (green label) the most expensive one, for the initial holds (piece to piece) then another layer of that stuff on the corners, then liquid nails over those...and yes, quite a bit over 1500w lol..i'm running a dd m2a @.5 daily, before rise i'd say i'm around 2700-2800 edit: i don't understand why it happened to mine..it hasn't happened to any of my other boxes..maybe i just have some really shitty luck.
