MACnonsence6 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 got my pair of baskets today for the se 12s im working on building im wanting to paint them red just wondering how i should go about paiting a 12 spoke basket and what paint is best to use I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

cc_audio Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 ^^^ real helpful Anyway, wash them real good with hot soapy water and let them dry. Give them a quick wipe down with rubbing alcohol right before painting. Start with a few coats of primer and paint away in whatever color you want, rustoleom automotive primer and paint works just fine. MACnonsence6 Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 so i shouldnt have to worry about sanding the orignal paint off. everytime i paint something it always comes out bad like my laptop i even primed it and the paint just peels off not flakes its like the paint is soft idk what i did wrong thanks for ur help though I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. Superjay Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 the primer will do that, but spray it with Bulldog before the primer to tack it up. I'd use a LPHF sprayer, but that's just me. And sand in-between primer coats as well, then on the last primer coat, progressively sand to a high grit paper. And as said above, anywhere you need to glue the recone (spider and surround) to the basket make sure you are down to bare metal and it is CLEAN so it makes a good bond.
