flashlight_65
Any easier way to get this damn thing on. Close up of where I got it. This is the only place I could slide it but I'm doing it alone. Any suggestions. There's no way itll go on a grooved pulley. I still can't get it on even with the tensioner cranked all the way down. I'm at the hobby shop on base and it closes in an hour. Help my fellow SMDers Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
kickass audio
i would assume your belt is too small if its not working. You should always set your belts up onto all the pulleys and then leave the tensioner as the last one you have to put the belt onto as it is easier to put a belt on the tensioner than it is to fit it over the other non-moving pulleys. What i do to cheat with getting the tensioner down all the way is to get a breaker bar and put that on my tensioner and get a strong piece of a metal pipe (i use a fence post) and slip that over the breaker bar and it gives you a ton of leverage and force and allows me to get the tensioner all the way up and slip the belt onto it. flashlight_65
That's what I'm doing but if I get a bigger belt than the one I was given with the kit I'm afraid the belt will slip once I put a load on the alts Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
kickass audio
yea a bigger belt may not work. Idk bro i always just get a ton of leverage on the tensioner. Hell when i put a new belt on my envoy i had to put the tensioner all the damn way down to get the belt on and it moved 1/8 of a inch from where i had the tensioner fully pulled down. kickass audio
hmm i really think they gave you the wrong size belt. shit happens in a warehouse. ppl are not perfect. lol. About how much length would you say you had when you fully depressed the tensioner to get that belt over the pulley for your fan? How many inches was it? I would assume maybe a inch or so. If its possible id see of you can go to autozone or somewhere cheap and get a test belt and see if it fits with it being an extra inch or 2 longer than the gatorback you have now. Also, how tight is your belt on the engine since you bypassed a few of those pulleys? flashlight_65
I ended up putting the old belt back on the way it's supposed to go. Since it's about a year old and broken in. Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
kickass audio
ah ok. glad it works with the old one. What you could have done as long as you didnt have belt slippage was wear your new one in a little bit too. But if i were you id keep the new one with you at all times so if your old one breaks on you, you at least have a spare to get home with. I always keep a spare belt in my truck even though its only a single alt. Bmike
looks like 2 of the pullys arent even being used with the new belt, probably the wrong belt, just my opinion though ,, good luck Quote 2007 trailblazer lthead unit- pioneer p4300dvd crescendo ft-1 supertweeters pioneer m650 pros audiocontrol 2xs crossover Rockford fosgate p200-2 highsrockford fosgate p400-2 mids1- fi btl 18amps- saz 3500battery- evermax in front, 2 9a31 dekas in rearwires all knuconceptz 1/0 and rcas
flashlight_65
It's the same size belt. When I put the alts in and the new belt I had to skip a pulley to get it on. Quote My builds: my caddy my 'hoe friends impala
