using diodes to step up voltage

Recommended Posts

Update:

1998/99 s10 2.2l

Stock alternator

Single wire from engine wiring harness - modifications with diode has no effect

had to modify the stock terminal to accept and additional wire on the "S" pin.

Pulling from batt +, diodes inline to "S", mod works

I will add some picture to this thread showing the terminal modification needed or you can purchase an aftermarket terminal with all 4 leads.

I'll add various test results also with different diode packs.

Those links didn't work, BUT the site looks fimilar. If its those .6 or 1.2 voltage booster thing off the factory harness THEY DON"T WORK! bought one and it didn't do anything!

  • 2 months later...

can i used a 1n4004 on my 2005 g6 it only has one wire so i just cut tap with the gray stripe pointed at the alt

not sure on that one. might be computer controlled. ill be doing my burban tomorrow

So if the car is PCM controlled are we better off getting an MLA or something? I know mine has the 2 pin alt with grey and orange wires and that stupid ground induction sesor that Underlok was talking about. 06 pontiac pusuit. angry.gif Coudn't find one wiring diagram for the dman thing lol

I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt with the sensor on the ground wire. Its a hall effect sensor. Its basically a magnetic field sensor. Wonder if there is a way to somehow fool it with a magnet to trick it to thinkin that there is a load to keep the voltage up?

I have a mla on my 07 escalade its pcm controled. The thing is it work sometimes that or I hooked it up wrong. Il get 14.4-14.7 charge but I have to unground my battery if it sits over 8or so hours. Im looking for an other way. Im tired of having to remove the grounds on my battery evetytime I use it.

I wonder if the computer is not over riding it somehow.
