I would go with the AQ for loudness no question. I run a single JL W3 13.5 great for sq but not so loud. I made my decision on space. I miss the sheer loudness of my treos but I had to have a lot of my trunk back and was able to return the spare tire. My nephew is bumping the AQ's and they beat.

Sorry to say, but I didn't believe you until I read it for myself.

However, if faced with such a choice, how do you come to a conclusion with advice from the other forum members??? I DO understand how such threads could get out of hand, but I don't see it happening enough to just ban the whole idea.

The rules also say if you have a problem with the rules, to email the staff.

Not only does it create teams, but you have people which have a preference and will recommend and suggest equipment while denouncing others they have ne st owned let alone heard. It's also near to impossible to say exactly how a specific driver/amp/speaker/wire/battery/alternator will perform in a given situation. The variables will take me awhile to list completely and even then its impossible to explain how you will process sound. Bottom line is...more con than pos, and pointless. So...that being said, do research on the equipment, find people with the equipment in question, look at the price and then pick.

That is, I understand where you're coming from. I read a lot of that already in this forum, however in most cases (such as this thread) the answer is pretty clear cut. I use this forum for advice because all that I find around where I live is JL and RF fanboys... no one with real experience... and the shops here are full of prick salespeople. And this is the 4th largest metro area in the US.

You're quoting statements that do not accurately fit, and the naive logic is becoming apparent. Of course on this site, AQ will have a clear cut proclamation, simply look at the site and forum. Ask this question at a shop, crutchfield, or another forum where JL has an actual presence and you will receive a different answer.

But now imagine it was a VS thread against brands and companies that both have a following here. DC, FI/AA, T3, Sundown, DD...then you'll really see a shitstorm start. And once again people with little to no experience between either will chime in simply because of the brand name.

Wo what do you suggest...only allow if people don't cause a problem? I'm sure mode have more important things to do than monitor every single comparison thread. Only allow the VS threads if its against mainstream brands not partnered on the site? It's also one of the rules not to bash another site, brand, company, etc.

So all in all, it is much easier to not allow it than to waste time and bandwidth when the question is incredibly subjective, results uncertain, and variables near limitless. Hopefully the logic will make it a bit more clearer.

I can certainly see a shitstorm brewing from DC and Sundown fans... But isn't this kinda like punishing for owning a gun versus punishing for using it??? Why remove all chance of discussing direct comparison just because someone will get too rowdy? Too much to moderate?

I'm just sporting healthy debate. I'm new here so I don't quite know "how things were" to really understand your rationale.

Also, my "high five from High School Seniors" comment, although with a hint of sarcasm, is directly from experience. JL is a famous name. The definition of fame is being well known for being well known. This is definitely not a qualifier of quality, only one's experience can be the judge.
