Recommended Posts

ALRIGHT, My Weekend is done, and what a weird fun weekend it was!!! Got very little done, but here is what I did.

Unfortunately there are gonna be no pictures or video until I fix this

My phone decided it would like to fall down the good ol' lazyboy and totally smash the lcd panel, so im ordering a new front lcd and housing.

Got my Mechman Alternator in, its beautiful, a deep dark red in color, tested at 120 idle and 223amps max, got the new power and ground leads to it also!!

Also the Carbon Fiber Vinyl and my Milwaukee Circular sander came in the mail so I can finish the back box and get the amps in!!!!

First off, I love the car (Mazda's are sick) and I'm sure that system is going to hit harder than $#!+ !

I'm just curious though... Why so many X-overs ??? Don't your amps + your HU already have some built in X-overs ? I can see needing maybe 1 or 2 more, for a complicated setup, but just as an example, I'm running two 15"s, four 8"s, (soon to be) four mids, and four tweets, in a 3 way active + passive system, all with 'zero' additional X-overs. I'd be a little bummed if I had to add a stand alone X-over. The only extra hard ware I'd prefer, would be more amps, and more speakers..... and even so, if I can get a 4ch to do the same work of two 2ch, that's all the better.

Anxious to see the results though.

Peace,

Fish

hey Chris!! :D Your so lucky you got to hang with Steve for a bit, also congrats on the weight loss!!

Yea I love mazda's too, this car is my baby :)

My headunit does have a crossover, but nothing beats a physical crossover, plus quick access to the settings right on my ceiling!! Also the headunit doesnt have the crossover that I would use for the tweets, as mine have to be set at about 2800 hz for the tweets/mids

Really Chris I have the 1 active 3 way crossover on the ceiling, then it goes to the amps which will not use the crossovers on there, and then to the passive crossovers, which really dont hurt anything, they will provide a passive crossover, but they are being wired up to be biamped, so the tweets will be on there own amp, and the mids will share 2 amps, and the subs will have 1 amp, so really its actively crossover once, then passively once, but it wont really be using the passive because it will be crossed over at the same point the passives would do it, so it should turn out awesome, also these passive crossovers have protection for the tweets in them so they dont get too much juice and die :D

My headunit does have a crossover, but nothing beats a physical crossover,

Yea', I've wondered about this myself. I know that stand alone X-overs often provide steeper slopes. I "think" mine sounds good..... but without having compared it to a stand alone x-over, how would I really know for sure ?

Oh hey, one other thing.... I saw on your list of stuff, the 30 band EQ !!! That looks bad-a$$ ! I'd love to get one of those to be able to shape, tweak, and smooth out my whole sound spectrum ! I was just looking at those a few days ago......

I might end up having to get one of those in the future myself.

Peace,

Fish

How is your phone coming along?

Yeah I wish I got the hatchback Mazda 3 now because I am planning a crazy build myself. But my Mazda 3 4 door will have to step it up, 8)

Got a new screen ordered, came with the whole new casing so the whole phone will look new :D new speakers and everything, for $60 dollars, all oem new, so I am excited, will be like I have a new phone, I have missed my phone so much, its so handy, was gonna pull it out to get a diagram for my engine belt diagram the other day, but then realized it was broke :( sucks
