baaudio
cool idea but how long will it take to pay off? google says theyve saved over $100k in the past 9 months, yet these cost $700-800k a piece. Google says they're running 4 in that example. Obviously once these reach the $3000 goal it will be much more cost effective. but ya definitely an interesting concept Quote Team NWSPL baaudio Build Log 2001 GMC Sierra walkthrough 4 Mechman Elite 370s, 10 AGM batteries, 3 Crossfire XS v2 18s, Crossfire 8k
Forevrbumpn
Iam googling this right now. That website talks a little, but I need more info Sounds promising Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.
blackrosetiger
it will be nice IF they can get the cost down. Thats what kills most alternative energy sources. Forevrbumpn
wow... wish i could invest in that company Definitely, the next Google! If I was all in to stocks and stuff, I would buy stocks right now One problem I see with this is, The Electric grid now keeps people employed, hundreds of thousands of people, due to people paying a monthly fee. Say you buy one of these, $3,000, and your off the grid now. So out of the 150mil homes or so out there in the US, what is half get off the power grid, and start running these? The Power companies will be smoke Now, I understand that if everyone converts to Bloom, Bloom will take over as the power grid, but these obviously look a lot more maintenance free. Meaning even if everyone switched over to this, and the business booms, and hires all the people from The power supply companies. But less work. Maybe 10 years, or 20 years converting everyone over. But but but.... hmmm I hope it works, and the price gets down alot, but I see it as a possibility to help ruin economy for people looking for employment? Just a longer term thought, than just a tomorrow thought I guess I do appliance repair, because there is always something that needs to be fixed. But if appliances all become maintenance free, and only need to be looked at once a year, well, people in my field would be completely cut down by what, 75-90%? Dont get me wrong, Iam pro green if its more reliable than fossil fuel Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. Forevrbumpn
I found this video on how it came to be, The designer is a rocker engineer or something, and designed a unit to create oxygen, to make Mars breathable for astronauts over time. It was a killed idea. Then he decided to run oxygen through the unit, NOT CO2, and it created electricity... awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7hdp8tvCYc Quote I have a ritual called "terminator". skittlesRgood
that is a tough problem bumpn. so while you wouldnt have repair work anymore, i bet you would love to own maintenance free appliances. i think the job thing will be a big negative side effect but new energy like this is inevitable and required. and think about the bigger possibilities. make electronic engines for space ships and now you dont have to rely on carrying fuel. we could travel further into space. never have to refuel or charge your car. no alliance will ever need batteries. its the way to the future. cost will of course go down. as well as size. i mean, our cell phones are more complex than the 1st shuttle to land on the moon. the 1st computer was bigger than a large bedroom. edit - shit i cant watch that at work but i cant wait to get home and see it. Forevrbumpn
Like I said, I'am all for this. Maybe They wont be reliable, and need to be changed every 12 - 18 months, that would be VERY beneficial. $3000 for 18 months of off the grid service? I'am interested to see the lifespan of these things, and if it would be good. It would be cool if they lasted say 25yrs, but better if they needed to be serviced just like a car does every 3000miles or 3 months. Quote I have a ritual called "terminator".
