sayhuh?
great title lol. I used just like 3 inch screws from home depot to hold my lvl 5 sideways on a double baffled box. No need for bolts really. dont worry about it ripping out. Think about it, there's 8 screws holding that sub in, all sharing the same strain, and evenly spread out. They aren't going anywhere. They will break off... Had it happen with smaller subs than that... you only need to use nuts if you take out the subs often. Screws will hold subs in, only problem that can occur is that screws break in half. (only when used wrong ) I say anything over 45lbs, bolt in... I've seen them snap heads off... Gotta dissagree with ya man. I used them on an 80+lb sub and they held find for 4 months. And I took the sub out a good 5 times and screwed back in. 4 months? Ok, try 2 years. Most normal people dont change subs every 4 months... Not arguing either, just saying, in my 20+ yrs doing this, I've seen shit happen... More power to you if it holds for you. I say anything over 45lbs, bolt in... I've seen them snap heads off... So, you're saying I havent seen em snap off? Lol... Had several in my TB, which BTW has 4 DC lvl 5 18's in it, snap off when I just had 2 Memphis Mojo 15's in it... Am I saying everyone needs to use bolts? Absolutely not, just saying what I have seen personally, not just heard about... So, just use good judgement... BTW, My 18's dont have nuts... They are lagged in... and I have 7 inches of baffle also... LOL... 20+ years? How old are you? lol Blown
BassJunkie
Either go with big screws or go with nuts. Both having their advantages and disadvantages. Smaller headed screws will have no problem loosening over time then snapping...dont ask how I know this Thread is full of win. 1986 C20 Suburban 9 American Bass XFL 15's B2 M1MKII 14v XS Power Batteries Maxwell Caps Acoustical energy is free.
